Men Connection is hosting a Spring Cleaning Donation Drive to support homeless men, men committed to sobriety, fatherless youth, and single fathers who are rebuilding their lives and transitioning into stability and independence.

For many of the men we serve, this season represents more than change — it represents a second chance.

The Alzheimer's Association leads the way to end Alzheimer's and all other dementia - by accelerating global research, driving risk reduction and early detection, and maximizing quality care and support. And we'd love to have your help.

Great working environment ~ administrative support needed

We are seeking compassionate individuals willing to share their time and talents in support of the Association's mission. You'll be part of a team providing and enhancing care and support for all affected by Alzheimer's Disease. As a vital part of our team, your efforts will make a meaningful difference for those who need you most.

Administrative volunteers assist staff with office duties, data entry, filing and other day-to-day administrative tasks. 

Our building is situated on a park-like campus with easy access and plenty of parking. You'll work with friendly chapter employees who are dedicated to the vision of a world without Alzheimer’s.

Commitment to a regular weekly shift will be preferred. Most work will be during regular business hours and in the main office (near the intersection of I-610 and the Gulf Freeway).

Volunteers will help our ReStore staff pick up an off-site donation. Duties will include moving and loading donations in our ReStore trucks.

We are a nonprofit organization, and we provide tutorial services for students who are struggling academically. Elementary to High School ages 

Reading.  Math.  Writing 

•These students need your skills and knowledge 
•Share in the academic success of a student 

•Tutorials are held between the hours of 5 pm - 9 pm Monday through Thursday

•We  provide orientation and training to support your success

Adult volunteer mentors from the community are recruited, screened and trained. After clearance, the mentor is carefully matched by gender and geographical proximity with a youth that is currently involved with the Fort Bend County Juvenile Probation Department. These juveniles are between the ages of 10 and 17 and are living in their home. Each week , the mentor will offer one-to-one support and encouragement by participating in activities such as: talking at the park, playing sports, going to the movies, having dinner, going to the library, etc. This program provides the juvenile an opportunity to spend quality time with a positive adult role model.

Adult volunteer mentors from the community are recruited, screened and trained to provide visitation to juveniles in the Fort Bend County Juvenile Probation Detention Center. The juveniles chosen to receive a mentor are usually those that do not have anyone coming to visit them, are going to be there longer than average, and just need one-to-one visits. This program is designed for mentors to provide support, listen and encourage the juvenile while they are being detained in the detention center.

What: As a Mock Interviewer, you will assist our clients currently enrolled in our Job Search Accelerator (JSA) class.  Volunteers help clients practice their job interviewing skills by asking difficult interview questions and providing feedback after each question. Serving in this capacity, you will instill hope and confidence for those navigating a job search.

When: This is an in-person volunteer opportunity that takes place once a month from 12:30PM-2:00PM. Volunteers meet at 4555 Dacoma St. Houston, TX as a group and then meet with 1-3 clients in a designated office at our location.

Texans Tutor Texans is a NEW nonprofit in Houston that is dedicated to creating accessible educational experiences that foster lifelong learning for public school students who are in need of academic support outside school hours. Our Marine Debris Survey Program is a partnership with National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration to help measure the amount and types of marine debris that wash up on our shoreline.

You will assist staff in conducting this survey by collecting and documenting your findings. Once the survey is complete we will clean up any remaining trash in the area.

Founded in March 2017, the Volunteer Services department of Memorial Hermann Cypress Hospital works collaboratively with our staff to provide extraordinary experiences for our patients and families.

Memorial Hermann Cypress Hospital Volunteers are an integral part of the team and receive recognition for their service. Volunteers enjoy a complimentary meal for volunteering, free parking and free immunizations. Volunteering is as rewarding to the volunteer as it is beneficial to the patients, families, visitors, and staff. Connecting your compassion with our patients' needs can positively impact their health care experience while positively impacting you as well.  The Adult Volunteer Program is our year-round program for adults over the age of 18. This program is best suited for long-term volunteers who want to serve the hospital and its patients.  Volunteers enjoy a complimentary meal for volunteering, free parking and free immunizations.

At Memorial Hermann Cypress Hospital, our unique volunteer program offers you the opportunity to explore new directions, develop skills, make friends, and have fun! Students, professionals, retirees - everyone finds satisfaction in helping others.  We are currently seeking service minded adults to transport our patients, staff, and visitors to and from the hospital parking lots.  This position is very social and supportive.  Drivers often put passengers at ease as they attend an appointment or visit a patient.  We ask that volunteers commit to one shift per week, Monday through Friday, 7:30 am to 11:45 am or 11:45 am to 4 pm. Volunteers are needed to help with the following:

Freewheels accepts bike donations on Friday and Saturday mornings from 9 a.m. to noon  at our shop at 6020 Jessamine #103, Houston, TX 77081. If you have a question, please email us at info@freewheelshouston.org.

The bike you are not riding holds the key to freedom for a refugee, veteran or young person who needs a way to work or school. Donate your bike to Freewheels and our volunteers will clean and repair it and provide a way for people to get to work or school.

Our greatest need is for adult mountain bikes and hybrids with 26-inch and 700c wheels. We also need youth bikes with 24-inch wheels and 20-inch wheels.

Our refugee and veteran customers rarely ask for road bikes or beach cruisers. We do not accept used helmets, small children’s bikes, scooters or tag-alongs. If it’s not economic for Freewheels to repair a donated used bike, we often reclaim parts and components that can be used on other bikes. We have partnerships with people who will take bikes we don’t plan to repair and deliver them to organizations in Mexico. When we receive a road bike, we may try to sell it and and use the proceeds to pay for parts, supplies, safety equipment and rent.

General Day Center volunteers enjoy socializing with our members with dementia and help us lead activities. They may also help with special events or other specific projects happening in the center. Training on communication and activities will be provided.

We need outgoing volunteers to work at the Day Center Front Desk one or two days a week. Their primary job is to greet families as they pick up their loved ones and walk Day Center members in and out of the Day Center. Training will be provided.

Once we have a committed foster home, we can save a puppy/dog or kitten/cat from the shelter. To foster you will need to care for the pet in your home and bring to adoptions on some weekends at one of our adoption locations until adopted.

As an Application Advisor, you play a crucial role in helping our students submit outstanding job applications. Using the Application Feedback Form and the guidelines provided, you will review, proofread, and offer detailed suggestions to ensure each application meets the highest standards of professionalism. Volunteers will receive 1-3 applications per session to review, helping clients craft "pristine" applications that set them up for success in their job search.

This volunteer opportunity occurs three times a month, aligning with each JSA class cycle, and is conducted entirely electronically. Applications are sent out on Wednesdays, and reviewed submissions must be emailed back by 8:00 AM the following Wednesday. This one-week turnaround is vital as student training programs operate on a tight schedule. Love to drive and navigate your way through the Greater Houston Area? Then become a volunteer driver for Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center!

In this role, you will retrieve, transport, and deliver blood samples from area crossmatch facilities to our headquarters located behind NRG Stadium, using a company vehicle. All volunteer drivers will go through a volunteer orientation, background check, drug screen, road test and complete defensive driving training provided by The Blood Center to ensure the safety of the volunteers as well as the products. Volunteer drivers are asked to commit to 2-4 driving shifts per months with a four hour per shift minimum. Volunteer drivers will receive materials about the program and its policies, essential contact information, a T-shirt, and a personalized volunteer badge. Their shift will begin at the Hospital Services department, where they will sign in and receive their vehicle and route assignments.

This three-day camp is designed for young girls ages 12-15. Through fun-filled activities we provide a positive atmosphere for recreation and self-expression. Our challenge course activities emphasize self-respect, self-worth, teamwork, and trust in a safe environment. Activities include: arts and crafts, fishing, archery, kayaking, swimming, relationship building, talent shows, and special games and events that include a dance and/or talent shows. On the last day, each girl leaves TRAC with all camp adventures documented in a souvenir photo album along with notes of love and encouragement.  Volunteer photographers capture images and decorate keepsakes for every girl, which for many, may be their only childhood memories captured and in their possession. Positions Available:

Want to get outdoors and lead people? Friends of Woodland Park (FWP) is looking for 4-6 people to manage logistics and materials for park work days. Volunteers annually remove 10-15,000 pounds of trash from the Little White Oak Bayou floodplain within Woodland Park.

FWP usually sponsors 7 community work days annually (Jan, Feb, Mar, April, Sept, Oct, Nov) plus Earth Day (corporate weekday event, April).  Scout projects may also require support. 

Friends of Woodland Park is an all volunteer organization and this is a volunteer opportunity. 

Expectations:

Cleanups are generally held on Saturday mornings, with occasional weekday cleanups for corporate groups. 

With help from the Green Team Leads and FWP board, team members will identify supplies and tools needed using provided checklists. Supplies generally include FWP Flags, canopy, info kit, table cloth, gloves, trash grabbers, trash bags, water coolers and cups, snacks, first aid kit, bug spray and hand sanitizer. Tools such as shovels and wheel barrows are borrowed from and returned to Houston Tool Bank. 

Team members will gather equipment from storage located at 2515 Washington Avenue and any other supplies (such as snacks) and ensure that committee members can receive them on clean-up day or prior.  

Set up the supply distribution area and check-in table at Woodland Park Community Center located at 212 Parkview St. 

Check-in volunteer participants (participants will register on volunteerhouston.org where they will agree to a liability waiver). Provide Park history overview and safety/procedure briefing to participants.

The Emerson ESL Program seeks teachers and classrooms assistants for its free English classes offered Tuesday and Thursday nights at Emerson Unitarian Universalist Church in the Galleria area. www.emersonhouston.org

About TWST4Girls: TWST4Girls is a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering young girls and adolescents by fostering self-confidence, personal development, and leadership skills. Position Description: We are seeking a passionate and dedicated individual to join our team as a Facilitator of self-confidence classes at Bellaire High School. As a facilitator, you will play a crucial role in delivering engaging and impactful self-confidence sessions to high school girls. What: As a Mock Interviewer, you will assist our clients currently enrolled in our Job Search Accelerator (JSA) class.  Volunteers help clients practice their job interviewing skills by asking difficult interview questions and providing feedback after each question. Serving in this capacity, you will instill hope and confidence for those navigating a job search.

When: This is an in-person volunteer opportunity that takes place once a month from 12:30PM-2:00PM. Volunteers meet at 2575 Reed Rd. Houston, TX as a group and then meet with 1-3 clients in a designated office at our location.

Help Mesa Outreach retrieve donations from local grocery stores.  We need help on Mondays and Thursdays, 9am until complete, usually around 11 am.  You can volunteer as many days as you prefer, even a once-a-month commitment will help.  Volunteers need to be able to lift 50 pounds (most boxes are less) and have a truck.  Stores are 2-12 miles away. 

This food helps us feed our client families each month and is a vital part in making our mission work for our community.  

If you're compassionate, fluent in English, and can volunteer a couple times per week, we want YOU to help a group of Houston adults learn to speak English. You'll meet some amazing people, experience the joy and fulfillment of helping others succeed, and know that you're making Houston a better place for us all.

Classes meet in-person Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday, and volunteers are especially needed 9am - 11am and 6:30pm - 8:30pm.

NO prior teaching experience or second language is required. If this volunteer opportunity is for you, we'll train you, match you with a group of adult learners, and support you as you get started on the exciting and hugely rewarding activity of helping your neighbors learn English as a second (or third!) language (ESL).

Volunteer opportunities at our Resale Store include assisting customers, operating the cash register, helping the cashier, or organizing and restocking the store. As a Warehouse volunteer, you would help sort and price incoming donations in one of our most needed areas. 

The sales from MAM's Resale Store & Boutique bring in over $2 million each year, supporting more than 20% of MAM’s budget. This funding helps us partner with hardworking Houstonians to build hope, stability, and well-being through education, employment, resources, and relationships.

We are hosting Will Clinics to assist members of our community with their estate panning needs and we need dedicated volunteers to help make these clinics a success. We are in need of volunteer witnesses and notaries for our Will Clinics held every month.

This Holiday Season make a difference in a teen's life by SHAREing your heart & home with a high school exchange student! Volunteers, with or without children at home, are needed to host teenage boys and girls from Germany, Italy, Spain, Brazil, Mongolia, Japan, and several other countries. Families can review student applications and choose the boy or girl that matches their family. SHARE! students speak English, come medically insured, and have their own spending money for personal expenses. They attend the host family’s local high school for a school year or semester.

The Houston Community ToolBank keeps thousands of tools in motion; powering projects, supporting nonprofits, and strengthening our city every single day. With all that impact, some wear and tear is bound to happen!

That’s where you come in. We’re looking for a dependable Tool Maintenance Volunteer to help repair and maintain tools so they can get right back out into the community where they’re needed most

Equipment you may work on:

Generators

Power washers

Lawnmowers

Tillers

Other small engine equipment

Typical tasks include:

Carburetor cleaning and repair

Replacing spark plugs

Diagnosing issues and swapping worn or broken parts

General small engine maintenance

Time Commitment:
Flexible! Ideally once a week or every other week, depending on your availability.

What you’ll need:

Closed-toe shoes

Work clothes

Whether you’re a seasoned mechanic or someone who enjoys tuning engines and solving mechanical problems, we’d love your help. Any skill level is welcome, and your work helps keep vital tools in the hands of nonprofits that need them most.
