Volunteer: Notes of EncouragementMake it a special day with Notes of Encouragement! We all love cards and special greetings! But our clients don't usually receive mail that is positive and uplifting. Your notes will be placed in client mailboxes or on bunk beds to bless, uplift and raise the self-esteem of who are homeless. You can use any type of card you prefer. Plain cardstock cut into fourths works great. You can simply pen a note or decorate the cards with markers, colored pencils and/or stickers. In other words, volunteers can unleash their compassion and creativity. Notes can be all occasion or seasonal. Notes do not need to be signed. Volunteers can use a group name or phrase like "Your Friend", but notes should not include a name or any personal information. Not sure what to write, here a few suggestions: Just want you to know that someone is praying for you today. Hang in there! Tomorrow will be a better day! "Instead of giving myself reasons why I can't, I give myself reasons why I can." All our dreams can come true, if we have the courage to pursue them. - Walt Disney For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. ? Jeremiah 29:11Notes of Encouragement can be created at your location, at your convenience. When the notes are ready for delivery, we can often arrange a tour. Volunteer: Reward a Child for Good ChoicesAgape Development has an ongoing consumable program need that would be an opportunity for the youth, groups, families, schools, etc to collect highly needed items. Our after-school program, Backyard Bible Club (BBC), serves K-5th graders in the community. It runs Monday through Thursday from 3:00-5:30. During this time we provide help with homework, additional games and activities to help improve reading literacy, organized games and crafts, daily worship/Bible lesson, as well as the "seasonal' activities - health and fitness; Lemonade Day; service projects, etc. During BBC, we provide the kids with tokens for making good choices, completing homework, and participation. At the end of the day the kids can turn these tokens in for reward items - think kind of like a treasure box that many schools use. These can be new or used items - if someone is cleaning out their items and they are still in good shape, we will take them! Think items like erasers, pencils, girls hair items, bouncy balls, matchbox cars, paddleball games, non-electronic hand-help games - Oriental Trading type items. We have 30-35 kids attend BBC each day, so we go through reward items very quickly! Items can be delivered to Agape Development or a pick-up location can be set.
