In 2018, Sacramento was named the "the Most Polluted City on Earth" due to "smoke from Camp Fire," This proposal aims to prevent that from happening again through adopting a systemic approach and collaborating with stakeholders to actively prevent future such events. The insurance industry, along with institutional chief risk officers, have begun to recognize the importance of moving from "loss compensation to loss prevention."

CrowdDoing and Project Heather propose launching a prevention derivative with two new stakeholders: (a) contingent payers who pay in proportion to the reduction in risk, and (b) impact investors who finance social innovations in which their return is similarly proportional to the reduction in risk. It will build on existing precedents for contingent contracts involving social- innovation-based risk prevention.

Monitor social channels for relevant art news and trends, then apply those ideas to develop and implement social media content that builds and engages museum audiences. Research similar art organizations and provide advice for expanding our outreach in the digital space. Submit weekly and monthly reports that capture and analyze social media metrics.

Responsibilities
(A) Develop written material for each piece of media collected. Copy must reflect creative vision, company values, and inspire customer support and loyalty.

(B) Update website and connect the shop to social media platforms; Instagram and Facebook. Ensure shop links, meta tags, descriptions and web links are accurate and working.
(C ) Create a monthly social media calendar and organize posts, alternating media for variety and interest.
(D) Evaluate, review, refine and repeat. Monitor impact weekly and monthly using social media metrics and web site statistics to evaluate effectiveness, reach and audience.

Survivor Advocates help us to answer our 24-hour crisis hotline and accompany survivors to area hospitals, law enforcement agencies, and criminal justice proceedings to provide support through the forensic examination, the reporting process, and court. 

The training to become an advocate is 40 hours, certified through the Texas Office of the Attorney General. It is hosted 3 times a year in the Spring, Summer, and Fall Semesters. 

Advocates must be 18 years or older and be able to pass a criminal background check. 

Next Training is in the Fall and will be October 18th through November 5th; it will run Tue/Wed/Thur of all three weeks from 5:30-8:30pm and Saturdays October 22nd and November 5th from 9am-2pm. The training will be held in person in the Bryan/College Station area.

We are looking for volunteers from 2:00PM to 5:30PM a couple/few Sundays a month. Come visit Open Gate Homeless Ministry for 18 to 30 years of age.

ORGANIZATIONAL MISSION

Ronald McDonald House Houston (RMH Houston) offers a home away from home providing care, compassion, and hope to families with seriously ill children being treated in Texas Medical Center member institutions.

ROLE PURPOSE

The Welcome Desk Volunteer creates a warm, hospitable environment for our families by ensuring they are cared for during their stay.  By providing families with the physical items they need for a comfortable stay and providing a listening ear, we help families feel welcomed, known, and supported. Welcome Desk Volunteers help lower the stress of parents and family members in a time when support is needed the most and create a hopeful and secure environment in our home away from home.

SCHEDULE

Shifts are three hours, two times per month for six months to one year. Shift times are seven days a week, 9 am - 12 pm, 12 pm - 3 pm, 3 pm - 6 pm, and 6 pm - 9 pm.

If you have a few hours to spare on a Tuesday or a Wednesday morning, come join the Cy-Fair Helping Hands Homeless Day Center Team as a shuttle (van) driver. Your provision of transportation will help our homeless neighbors enjoy a meal, a shower, and some much needed fellowship.  This is roughly a 4-hour commitment, picking up individuals and delivering them to the Day Center, then returning them to their original location after activities.  Drivers are encouraged to join the activities at the Homeless Day Center which includes daily devotionals and lunch at 11:00.  Reports to the Director of Homeless Outreach.

Must be at least 18.  Driver's License and good driving record required.  Long term considerations only, please.

The role of you - the Sheltering Service Associate - is to serve as a member of a temporary work unit on a disaster relief operation to successfully complete their assigned areas of responsibility on a disaster relief operation. They ensure safe sheltering at a single shelter throughout the cycle of the disaster.

Volunteers in this role are required to be fully vaccinated.

ROLE PURPOSE

For RMHH families, consistently eating nutritious meals during their hospital stay can be a huge challenge. The financial burden combined with the thought of leaving their child’s bedside to grab a bite to eat can be terrifying. JoyFull Eats, RMH Houston’s meals program, helps alleviate hunger by providing quick, healthy food options for families. The JoyFull Eats intern contributes to the success and growth of the JoyFULL Eats program at all four RMHH locations by providing hands-on assistance, engaging with donors, helping with outreach, and providing administrative support.

SCHEDULE

Available for fall, winter, or summer start dates. Specific schedule will be based on student’s availability and agency need. Evening and weekend availability is preferred.

Cultural networking isn't easy. It requires curiosity and appreciation for others while being tolerant of conflicting viewpoints. By practicing finding common ground and connecting with diverse people, we empower the world to work together.

Acquaint is one of the most convenient and rewarding ways to volunteer. The process is simple. First: enter times that you are available in Acquaint's web app. Next, Acquaint pairs you with someone else from around the world during your available time. Finally, at the time of your session, connect for an approximately one-hour conversation and virtual icebreaker. Your session partner could be down the street, or on the other side of the globe.

This role is open to anyone over the age of 14 who has internet access a device that connects to the internet (for example, a smartphone, tablet, or laptop). The device must have a microphone. The Freeman Bookstore regularly needs new volunteers to those who leave for a variety of reasons. Volunteers sell, straighten, and shelve books. Volunteers must be able to learn Square point-of-sale technology. Shifts are 2½ hours Monday through Saturday. Most shifts are currently staffed by incumbent volunteers. The remainder are on a substitute list. Substitutes normally have ample opportunities to work when open shifts occur.

A good match for people with knowledge of books &/or who have experience working in a bookstore or library. Sales experience is a plus.

The Urban Farm Experience is the perfect team building opportunity for groups that have been working remotely for the past year or for those who want to take a break from the computer and bring your group out to the field! Bloom leads adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) to a lifetime of community-driven health and wellness. We offer in-person classes at partnership locations and virtual classes through our fitness app. Classes include strength, dance, yoga, Pilates, indoor cycle, and chair fitness. Bloom is always looking for volunteers to teach or help facilitate a class.  

Please note that to facilitate a class (in partnership with a live or virtual coach), no fitness instruction experience is needed. Bloom provides the training. The only requirement to enjoy this position are a desire to commit to the athletes over time.

Brighter Bites is a nonprofit that creates communities of health through fresh food with the goal of changing behavior among children and their families to prevent obesity and achieve long-term health. It is an evidence-based, multi-component elementary school, preschool, and summer camp program that utilizes reliable access to fruits and vegetables, nutrition education, and consistent exposure to recipes and messages that feature fresh food. Since 2012, Brighter Bites has provided nearly 40 million pounds of produce and millions of nutrition education materials to more than 475,000 individuals.  

During a Brighter Bites Boxing Project shift, volunteers will help build produce orders for Brighter Bites schools at the Houston Food Bank. This includes sorting and boxing produce, then stacking the completed boxes of produce onto pallets. HFB's Senior Box Home Delivery Program currently serves over 750 homebound seniors through a Federal CSFP Program that we refer to as Senior Box which includes a monthly home delivery of a shelf stable food box and a block of cheese.

Over 50 routes consisting of 10 stops each have been developed to keep delivery times around 2 hours per route. Routes are located conveniently in and around Harris County enabling drivers to choose a route near you. We are recruiting volunteers that are willing to provide this service once a month to 10 seniors for at least 3 consecutive months.

We are recruiting vision screeners to assist schools who need help with conducting state mandated vision screenings. Volunteers must be eligible to work in public schools and the Foundation will provide required certification trainings on selected dates.  

Foundation will provide training and certification. 

Screener must be eligible to volunteer in public schools. 

Must have reliable transportation.

Volunteers will either: provide support to athletes during their Bloom Fitness virtual/on-demand class or, if certified, the volunteer can create and lead their class. Classes include dance, strength, yoga, Pilates, and chair fitness. 

Classes take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 10 am and 2 pm. Classes are 30 minutes long. 

CrossWalk Center is looking for a volunteer to cover the front desk Monday through Friday from 10-5. This position can be broken up into 2-individuals. Because we are a nonprofit who deals with men and women returning from prison, we want the volunteer to be comfortable. These individuals are looking for a second chance and just need a warm smile. There are also various vendors who drop off deliveries, etc.

Answer busy phones/take messages

Other light duties as needed.

Agape Homes CDC creates quality affordable housing for diverse communities without concentrating poverty. The Agape Homes CDC goal is to give the families in the Agape Development community an affordable option to own a home. Sponsoring the landscaping and providing the necessary labor to install the landscape items helps keep the cost of the homes at an affordable level while also creating a welcoming space for our new homeowners.

This sponsorship opportunity covers the expenses of all landscape items: trees, sod, bushes, dirt, and mulch. All supplies will be ordered and onsite for your group to complete installation! This project of landscaping one home is best for 5-7 people but can accommodate up to 10. It is estimated to take approximately 3 hours, depending on the speed of your team.

The cost of this sponsorship is $5,000 per home with no limitation on how many homes you can sponsor as they become available and ready for sponsorship.

We work with homeless young adults between the ages of 18-30. We provide clothing, a home cooked meal, resources to the community and their needs at the time.

We are looking for volunteers to help out in the kitchen preparing the meal, cleaning dishes, greeting our youths, helping our youths in the clothing room, visiting with them at the table, No Experience is needed to volunteer with our wonderful team and our youths.

Our Mission: Halo House Foundation supports blood cancer patients and their caregivers by providing affordable, fully furnished, temporary apartment housing to enable access to lifesaving treatment in the Texas Medical Center.

Our Vision: One day, no one battling blood cancer will have to worry about where they are going to live during treatment in Houston, or going bankrupt while paying for living, eating and parking expenses here, and their rent or mortgage back home. We believe that providing a “home away from home” and easing the family’s financial burden, their focus can be directed toward healing.

Qualifications: We are looking for people with good verbal and written communication skills, familiarity with the Halo House website and services we offer and who want to contribute to something bigger than themselves.

Experience you DON’T need: Information systems, knowledge of blood cancers, knowledge of doctors or other existing housing facilities in the Texas Medical Center, or apartment management experience.

The Phoenix is a nonprofit building sober active communities! We work with people in recovery from SUD (substance use disorder) sober curious people, and allies! This is done through events like group fitness, bowling, yoga, sound healing, meditation, walks, hikes, arts & crafts, and so much more.

Volunteers lead and support activities in the Gulf Coast in Galveston, Beaumont, Houston, League City, and beyond. We want to hear from you if:
-You enjoy doing activities with others to build community
-Working with groups of people is something you enjoy
-Have experience in recovery from substance use disorder or are an ally to those experiencing SUD (substance use disorder) 
-Are passionate about and committed to social justice and mental health

We will work with your schedule and local organizations to find a consistent time (1-2 hours/month) and place to lead meditation.
