Volunteer: Volunteer Online as a Conversation PartnerReady to change a life from the comfort of home? Join ENGin as a conversation partner! This is a flexible and unique opportunity to make a direct impact on someone’s life while discovering a new culture and meeting a new friend. We’ll pair you up with a learner in Ukraine for weekly one hour videochats at times that are convenient for you. During your conversations, you’ll practice English with your partner, learn about each other’s cultures, and offer an empathetic, authentic space for connection. No prior tutoring experience or knowledge of Ukrainian language is needed to volunteer with ENGin. We offer ample training resources, session materials, and total flexibility to customize your sessions to fit your/your partner’s goals and preferences. Our friendly team is available to support you throughout your time with us. Our only requirements for volunteers are English fluency, a strong internet connection, and the ability to commit to one hour a week for a minimum of 10-12 weeks. Since our launch in 2020, ENGin has matched over 26,000 volunteers with Ukrainians for authentic English-language connection across borders, and we continue to grow every day. 99% of our learners report feeling they were able to break the language barrier as a participant in our program, and 79% of our participants form lasting friendships. Here's what three ENGin volunteers say about their experience. "I made a friend in Ukraine and we are teaching each other about our culture, our language, and our humor. We're even trading dad jokes! Both of us look forward to our chats and have a hard time wrapping it up." “Fantastic organization doing great work. So happy to be a small part of it. My partner and I have worked together for two years and have become good friends! Her English has become better, and I have become more knowledgeable about Ukraine!” "This program has been, I think, life-changing for both of us. KEY FUNCTIONS
Portfolio management/expansion Engage in qualification, strategy and relationship building with national foundations and corporate foundation entities, with a view toward sustained transformational giving over time. The individual's portfolio will be a mix of larger-capacity grant-making foundations and corporate foundations whose mission and strategic giving aligns with Harvey Nexus Strategy and activities.

Develop a broad and deep understanding of current fundraising priorities across the institution, as outlined by the President, and the Executive Leadership or as envisioned as part of Harvey Nexus Strategy.
Work with the leadership team and other stakeholders and faculty leaders across the organization on targeted top-tier foundations and corporate foundations: creating an annual plan for each assigned foundation based on strategy that includes key leadership champion/s and volunteer/board connections; thoughtful solicitation at the right time; and continuation of relationship for deeper relationship building over time. People and Program Management

Volunteer: Join Our Volunteer Outreach TeamBecome part of our completely volunteer-based outreach in high human-trafficking areas! This outreach is crucial to reaching trafficking victims and sharing the Human Trafficking National Hotline in places away from their captors or employers. Key Responsibilities include: -- Speaking to businesses on behalf of UAHT and victims on Saturdays as your schedule permits. -- Displaying the National Human Trafficking Hotline number in restrooms, back offices, kitchens, and storefronts -- places away from victims' captors and/or employers. -- Entering data after each outreach activity is completed. All volunteers who want to become part of the Volunteer Outreach Team must complete the orientation and training. (This is separate from the Volunteer Orientation that every volunteer must attend.) Volunteer Outreach Orientation will cover the key duties, processes, script, impact, and time commitment needed to confidently speak to businesses on behalf of UAHT and trafficking victims. If weather permits, orientation and training will take place outdoors in a park setting, and when weather doesn't permit, we'll meet in an accommodating coffee shop. After the Orientation and Training presentation, we will drive to nearby businesses, and each participant will get to train with an experienced volunteer who will share their knowledge of the process. Volunteer: Host Red Sand Project to Raise Trafficking AwarenessHuman trafficking occurs every day in our own communities. This crime continues to grow in the shadows of our society, and is one of the largest criminal industries in the world. Victims of trafficking are subjected to force, fraud, or coercion for the purposes of sexual exploitation and/or forced labor. Participants in Red Sand Projects fill cracks in sidewalks with red sand, a symbolic gesture that represents those individuals who fall through the cracks -- whether the cracks of our social, economic, and political systems or those of our personal consciousness. We at UAHT want to highlight and remember the human trafficking victims who fall through those cracks in the greater Houston area, the very ones we make an effort each day to reach and help. Our Red Sand Projects are meant to be volunteer-led and community-wide events, so if you'd like to host a project of your own -- whether it's in your neighborhood, your favorite park, your church, or an other public setting you'd like -- we strongly encourage you to do so! Host a project with your friends and family or a school, community or social group! Will you join us and host your own project? We'll provide the red sand and flyers to hand out to passerby! (And if you want additional volunteer help with your project, we'll make every effort to provide it!)
