At Jesse H. Jones Park & Nature Center, we have replicas of an 1830's pioneer settlement and a Native American village which are utilized year round for elementary school field trips, educational events, day camps, and community festivals when staff and volunteers dress in period costumes and demonstrate 19th century life to bring history to life for our patrons.
On Sunday, July 21st, volunteers are needed to assist with replacing the log cabin chinking (the clay & straw mortar that keeps the log joints sealed). This is muddy work, but it's fun!
No experience necessary. Volunteers should wear clothes that can get dirty and sturdy, closed-toe shoes (work boots). Tools and training are provided. Meet in the Nature Center at 9 a.m.
