Description

The Alliance seeks a highly-motivated intern to assist with events, outreach, and community engagement. The intern will help organize and coordinate events, contribute to annual event planning, and help highlight the agency's programs and educate the general public about the communities we serve.

The intern will gain experience and utilize their skills in:

  • Working in a collaborative environment to plan events to educate the public about our work and recruit community resources
  • Attending outreach fairs to highlight our programs and current opportunities
  • Planning and coordinating with vendors/partners on our agency's two largest events of the year: our annual Back to School event, where we provide school supplies, children's immunizations, and other essentials, to over 3,000 Houston students and families, and our United We Dine event, our annual fundraiser where we highlight our work while hosting an international food and culture celebration.
  • Take photos and record video footage capturing agency events, programs, staff, and clients to showcase the impact of the agency and help raise awareness about the community


The intern will have the opportunity to develop their skills and be able to contribute to the work The Alliance does to empower refugees, immigrants, and other underserved communities.

Qualifications:

  • Excellent written communication
  • Comfortability with public speaking
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs
  • Previous internships or related experience in events or communications is a plus
  • Language skills are a plus
  • Interest in community-based nonprofit organizations and working with diverse communities


Start Date: Flexible

Compensation: This is an unpaid internship. We are happy to comply with university credit-based internship expectations.
