Advocacy & Voter Engagement Intern

Description

The Alliance seeks a highly-motivated intern to assist with advocacy and voter engagement. The intern will participate in advocacy/coalition meetings, assist with voter engagement for refugees and immigrants, and track key policy changes relevant to refugee and immigrant policy.

The intern will gain experience and utilize their skills in:

  • Promoting policies that advocate for greater equity and justice for refugee and immigrant communities
  • Participating in local, state, and national coalitions for key advocacy goals
  • Helping with Voter Deputy Registrar registration for upcoming midterm elections
  • Leading organization voter education on changes in Texas voting laws to staff and clients
  • Contributing to social media advocacy alerts/calls to action

The intern will have the opportunity to develop their skills and be able to contribute to the work The Alliance does to empower refugees, immigrants, and other underserved communities.

Qualifications:

  • Excellent written communication
  • Excellent public speaking skills
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs
  • Interest in policies impacting refugee and immigrant communities
  • Interest in voter education
  • Previous internship or related experience in policy or communication is a plus
  • Language skills are plus
  • Interest in community-based nonprofit organizations and working with diverse communities

Start Date: Flexible

Compensation: This is an unpaid internship. We are happy to comply with university credit-based internship expectations.
