The Advisory Board ("Board") Member for the YMCA International Services ("Center"), a part of the YMCA of Greater Houston ("Association"), is a volunteer leadership role that Engages, Support, Advocates for, and Contributes to the mission of the YMCA International Services.
Engage
- Attend monthly Board meetings and applicable Committee meetings
- Attend special Board events (i.e. Board Retreat, Board Social Hours, etc.) to develop collaborative relationships with other Board Members
Support
- Adopt a Center Program to learn about its leaders, clients, the community it serves, and its specific donation and volunteering needs
- Increase familiarity with Center staff, their operating models, and general needs
Advocate
- Raise awareness of the services offered through Center Programs throughout personal and professional networks
- Attend Association events as a Board Member, increasing awareness of the Center's Program throughout the Association
Contribute
- Participate in annual fundraising events through direct contributions and general fundraising awareness and socialization
- Enable the success of the Center's annual fundraising event through a special assigned function (i.e. Marketing, Communication, Logistics, etc.)

Other Requirements:
- Passion for the Center's Mission and Program efforts
- Desire to promote awareness of the Center's Program
- Flexibility in Committee/Annual Fundraising Event role assignment
- Prior volunteer leadership experience (preferred)
- Prior mentoring experience (preferred)
Time Commitment: While hourly commitment requirements may vary over time, an anticipated 5-10 hours each month could be required
