YMCA International Services is a unique center of the YMCA of Greater Houston that delivers client-centered programs to refugees, immigrants, and other vulnerable populations to advance their economic independence, social integration, and civic participation. The Y helps newcomers restore hope, build stability, create opportunity and change futures. YMCA International Services is continuously recognized as a leader in the Houston immigrant community.
We are currently looking for volunteers who can help with our bus education program. Volunteers will be responsible for helping our refugee clients learn how to ride the bus, how to read bus routes and general rules about using public transportation. Shifts are usually 3 hours long.
Typically, in this volunteer position, you would be helping our clients get to their doctor appointment and back to their home using public transportation.
If you have ever had a desire to help the refugee community in a more direct way this is a perfect opportunity for you.
