Thank you for taking a few minutes out of your busy schedule to explore what it is like to volunteer with the Red Cross Biomedical Services Team. We are looking forward to a great morning with you on March 22nd from 10-11:30am as we highlight the incredible role you can play in our community by delivering life saving blood products to our local area hospitals.
Please wear closed toed shoes so that we can tour the Biomed facility.
This is a great opportunity for those who want to combine service with some alone time or for couples who would like to volunteer together.
Key Responsibilities
- Distribute blood to area hospitals as routine or "stat" deliveries
- Transport blood and blood products from blood collection sites to the laboratory for processing
- Pick up and return boxes as needed
- Complete required paperwork and obtain signatures
- Communicate and share feedback between Red Cross personnel and customers
- Drive in a safe and responsible manner
Qualifications
- Willingness to support Red Cross mission
- Valid state driver’s license – 3 years driving experience
- Familiarity with geographic area
- Able to verify safe driving records with state or insurance
- Experience to demonstrate reliability
- Ability to lift up to 45 lbs. (for hospital deliveries)
- Successful completion of American Red Cross Defensive Driving Course (within 6 months of placement)
Time Commitment
- Volunteer must commit to taking one driving shift per month
- Length of Time Varies based on distance from Headquarters
- Shifts available 7 days a week
