When a home fire strikes the Disaster Action Team is the very first Red Cross team on the scene. They bring comfort, resources, and hope when people need it most. Assist Red Cross in delivering mission by alleviating human suffering caused by disasters. Primary responses include single family and multifamily fires.
As a DAT volunteer you will:
- Respond to local emergencies, especially home fires, any time of day or night
- Provide immediate relief including financial assistance, resources and medical
- Offer comfort and connect families with recovery resources.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide timely response to disaster and assist those affected
- Respond to disaster scenes within two hours
- Meet the needs of those affected by disaster such as the need for shelter and food by providing Red Cross services
- Complete forms related to service
- Provide referrals to other agencies
- Communicate to Team Leader about availability and readiness on a regular basis
Qualifications
- Demonstrated commitment to the mission of the American Red Cross
- A vehicle or ability to get to the Red Cross office
- Background Check
