This is a fun, family-friendly event that draws people from all over the community to walk, run and move in support of our mission to provide a home away from home for the families Ronald McDonald House Houston serves.
To make this event as successful as possible, we need as much volunteer support as possible. If you are interested and available, we would love to have you join us. Roles and shifts are listed below.
Metered street parking in Downtown is plentiful and accessible. Surface lot parking is available at the Houston Chronicle Parking Garage at 719 Prairie for $10/car. Please plan enough time to find a parking spot and walk to the race site. When you arrive, please report to the Volunteer Check-In area. A map of the event layout will be distributed to those who register as we get closer to the date.
- Setup Crew (setup booths, unload trucks, move boxes, setup after-party booths, able to lift 30 pounds, active role)
- Shift Time: 6-8am
- # Volunteers Needed: 10
- Race Day Registration/Packet Pickup (assist with onsite registration and t-shirt and packet distribution)
- Shift Time: 6-8am
- # Volunteers Needed: 12
- Food Tent (serve food to guests, replenish food, break down boxes)
- Shift Time: 7:30-10am
- # Volunteers Needed: 12
- Volunteer Check-In (check in volunteers, instruct on point person, where to go)
- Shift Times: 5:45-7:45am and 7:45-10am
- # Volunteers Needed: 2 per shift
- Bag/Key Check (receive and secure items for participants who want a safe place to store their belongings)
- Shift Time: 6-8am and 8-10am
- # Volunteers Needed: 2 per shift
- T-Shirt Selling, Fundraising, Award Pickup (sell race T-shirts and Mogie books, give long-sleeve pullovers to those who met fundraising goal)
- Shift Time: 8-10am
- # Volunteers Needed: 4
- Teardown Crew (pack up T-shirts, activity supplies, take banners down, collect race signs, lift at least 30lbs)
- Shift Time: 9:30-10:30am
- # Volunteers Needed: 10
- Race Course Marshal (standing role, give directions to runners, eye for first-aid needs, put up/take down signs along race course)
- Shift Time: 7:30-9:30am
