Join BakerRipley as we canvass the GREATER HOBBY area in southeast Houston, a neighbrohood hit by Hurricane Harvey where there continues to be extensive ongoing Harvey-related needs. Volunteers will first meet at Harbach-Ripley Neighborhood Center to receive training and instruction, before being split into pairs or small groups to block-walk door-to-door to inform our neighbors about BakerRipley's available disaster recovery services.
BakerRipley is now serving more than 4,200 families impacted by Hurricane Harvey through disaster case management. We are committed to serving more of our neighbors -- but we need help letting our neighbors know about how we can help!
Through canvassing, we hope to reach neighbors in need of a helping hand. Our disaster case management and home restoration services are part of a broader Disaster Recovery Program through which BakerRipley is supporting our region's recovery from Hurricane Harvey. We operated an emergency shelter at NRG Center immediately following Harvey's landfall for individuals and families displaced by the storm, and now operating Neighborhood Restoration Centers in partnership with the City of Houston. Through disaster case management, we help our neighbors access alternative housing, home repair, and emergency financial assistance -- all so that our neighbors can get back to their pre-disaster livelihoods or on to their new normal.
