Earth Day Garden Volunteer – Hands-On Youth Program (Blackshear Elementary)

Description

Join us for a hands-on Earth Day Garden Experience supporting students at Blackshear Elementary School in Houston’s Third Ward.

Volunteers must sign in at the school’s front office upon arrival. Please bring a valid ID and allow a few extra minutes for check-in.

Volunteers will help guide students (PreK–5th grade) through interactive garden learning stations focused on:

• Planting & Soil

• Compost & Sustainability

• Food Systems & Community Impact

Students will rotate through stations in small groups, and volunteers will support simple, engaging activities while helping maintain flow between rotations.

Additional support areas include:

• Goody bag distribution

• Fruit assembly and distribution

• General event support and transitions

No gardening experience is required. All instructions and materials will be provided.

This is a great opportunity to support youth education, sustainability, and community engagement in a fun, structured environment.
