PACE Program's youth basketball league is a semi-competitive co-ed league for children ages 4 through 12 (grades Pre-K through 6th). Our volunteer coaches are remarkable people that not only teach children skills to succeed on the court; but also help them build confidence and character that makes them successful off the court. As we approach our 2022-2023 season, we are in need of more coaches to join our league and make a difference in a young child's life.
No previous coaching experience is needed to volunteer as a PACE basketball coach. The only requirement is that volunteers be committed to being a positive role model for the young children enrolled in our program. Coaches can coach one or multiple teams (up to three) depending on their level of interest and availability.
Below are the responsibilities/ expectations of PACE volunteer Coaches:
- attend coach orientation (pre-season),
- conduct their team's practice one evening per week (Monday-Friday),
- coach their team's weekly game (Saturdays),
- communicate with team parents and guardians about practice and game scheduling and league events,
- manage the league provided equipment for their team,
- adhere to PACE league rules and guidelines, and
- HAVE FUN!!!
Our season begins with a basketball camp/ open house event for families and volunteers on Saturday, November 5th at Son Rise Church (5609 E Mt. Houston 77093). The open house is a mini-skills session for children and information session for parents and volunteers. The morning session is from 11:15AM to 1:00PM (for grades pre-k through 2nd). The afternoon session is from 1:15PM to 3PM (for grades 3rd through 6th).
