The Anderson Center for the Arts is proud to serve as the official venue partner for the 5th Annual STEM Carnival: The STEMazing Race, presented by Mommy and Me: The Listers and The STEMagicians, on Saturday, September 12 from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM at our facility in Unincorporated East Harris County. This year's theme, The STEMazing Race, brings families, students, and community members together for a day of hands-on STEM learning, interactive challenges, live demonstrations, and creative exploration. As the host venue, ACA is looking for volunteers to help make the day run smoothly and give every family who walks through our doors a great experience. We need volunteers to help with:
1) STEM Station Support: Assisting presenters at interactive STEM stations, helping kids engage with hands-on experiments and activities
2) Registration & Check-In: Welcoming guests, checking in registrations, and directing families to the day's activities
3) Family Navigation: Helping families find their way around the venue, answering questions, and pointing guests toward restrooms, stations, and exits
4) Setup & Breakdown: Helping prepare the venue before doors open and reset the space after the event concludes
No STEM background or experience required. Just bring energy, a willingness to help, and a love for making kids feel excited about science.
This event already has over TWO THOUSAND Houston-area families registered! They will enter a space ACA has built specifically to expand access to arts and enrichment in Unincorporated East Harris County, a community that has historically had to travel elsewhere for experiences like this. Volunteering means helping make sure local kids get a front-row seat to science, creativity, and discovery, right in their own neighborhood.
