The 4th Annual Homeless Festival, in partnership with Officer Sheldon Theragood and his foundation, is coming up on Saturday, May 30, 2026, and we’re looking for volunteers with big hearts and willing hands.
This event is more than a photo opportunity. It’s a day of service, dignity, connection, and compassion for our unhoused neighbors. We believe strongly in giving back, and we’re building a team of volunteers who share that passion.
What We’re Looking For:
• Volunteers who want to serve with purpose
• People who believe in community, respect, and humanity
• Individuals who can help with setup, distribution, guest support, and cleanup
• A positive spirit and a willingness to put others first

This packet includes:
• The official application form.
• Detailed information about the requirements for service, including commitment expectations and a very basic, non-intrusive background check. This check is simply part of our standard process to ensure a safe and welcoming environment for everyone.
Please complete all the forms in the packet and return them to: HHD-Volunteers@houstontx.gov. Once we receive your completed paperwork, the HHD Volunteer Coordinator, Kesha McNeil, will review it and contact you to schedule an interview and find the best fit for your skills.
