Freewheels Houston seeks volunteers to distribute bikes to refugees, veterans, unhoused people, and young people who need transportation for work and school. Our bikes are donated by members of the community and repaired by volunteers.
Distributing bikes: Love and care at Freewheels
Support Tasks include:
- Helping fit the right size bike for each customer.
- Demonstrating how to use a helmet and fitting it correctly.
- Showing customers how to use a bike lock effectively.
- Explaining our waiver form and providing some basic principles of safe riding.
- Working patiently with clients who do not speak or read English using Google Translate as needed.
- Rolling bikes around our shop.
- Opening boxes and unpacking helmets and locks as needed.
Training is provided as needed.
Our work is very rewarding and brings a lot of smiles to our clients, along with much gratitude.
