Volunteer opportunities at our Resale Store include assisting customers, operating the cash register, helping the cashier, or organizing and restocking the store. As a Warehouse volunteer, you would help sort and price incoming donations in one of our most needed areas. 

The sales from MAM's Resale Store & Boutique bring in over $2 million each year, supporting more than 20% of MAM’s budget. This funding helps us partner with hardworking Houstonians to build hope, stability, and well-being through education, employment, resources, and relationships.

If you're compassionate, fluent in English, and can volunteer a couple times per week, we want YOU to help a group of Houston adults learn to speak English. You'll meet some amazing people, experience the joy and fulfillment of helping others succeed, and know that you're making Houston a better place for us all.

Classes meet in-person Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday, and volunteers are especially needed 9am - 11am and 6:30pm - 8:30pm.

NO prior teaching experience or second language is required. If this volunteer opportunity is for you, we'll train you, match you with a group of adult learners, and support you as you get started on the exciting and hugely rewarding activity of helping your neighbors learn English as a second (or third!) language (ESL).

Nurses (working/retired/student) are desperately needed by Project C.U.R.E.   We process donated medical supplies and equipment for donation to hospitals in developing countries.  Volunteers sort the donated supplies and nurses are always a huge asset to our work.    Nurses bring much needed expertise and can also serve as team leaders for other volunteers who inventory, sort, and pack the materials in preparation for shipment. The nurses' medical expertise helps insure that the teams correctly categorize and group the materials. Volunteer shifts can be arranged for weekdays or Saturdays

BIOMEDICAL/ Mechanical/ Electrical engineers and technicians are desperately needed at Project C.U.R.E. We send surplus medical supplies and equipment to developing nations. If you are skilled in this field, consider coming to our warehouse for about three hours a week to assess and repair donated equipment. Shifts can be arranged Tuesdays through Fridays and select Saturdays. Our warehouse is located at 8303 Kempwood (near Bingle).

About Us
Thank you for your interest in volunteering with us at Project C.U.R.E. Houston. Project C.U.R.E. is the largest provider of donated medical supplies and equipment to developing countries around the world. We would be delighted to have you join us and share in our mission.

WHAT do volunteers do?

Our volunteers help with all aspects of our life-saving operation. Volunteers sort donated medical supplies, prepare shipments, help manage our warehouse, and even work with our hospital partners to procure supplies. We also have volunteers who drive out to make scheduled donation pick-ups, test and repair medical equipment at all levels of expertise, help with fundraising and outreach, plan events, and assist with administrative needs.

We do not require any experience or medical background and will teach you everything you need to know.  With that said, we do love nurses and medical professionals! Engineers are also extremely valuable to us.  

HOW do I register?

New volunteers must create a profile online prior to volunteering.  

You can then log in using your user id/password to sign up for future individual volunteer sessions.

*Minimum age to volunteer is 15. Volunteers under 18 will be prompted to print a release form for their parent/guardian to sign. They must bring the signed form when they come to the warehouse.  This release expires at the end of each calendar year so an updated release may be needed.

You’ll use your user id/password to register online for each volunteer session. You are welcome to sign up for as many shifts as you like.  It is important to come on time and stay for the full shift.   Please remember to cancel if your plans change.

HOW should I dress?

Please dress comfortably (jeans, sweats, shorts) with comfortable closed toes shoes.  Please note the exterior warehouse space can be a bit cool in the winter and warm in the summer.

Help a child who is reading below grade level. Volunteers needed to work with elementary-age children once or twice a week on Zoom.  Program moderator creates virtual breakout rooms.  Volunteers work with small groups (2-4 students) from 4:30 to 5:30 one day a week. Simple lesson and materials provided for you.  

Groups meet twice a week on Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday. Volunteers would need to commit to only once a week visits with their group of children for at least one semester. One hour training provided before you start as well as a background check. Program has proven results in improving student reading levels.  

Our mentoring program is designed to support the growth of our students on the fields, in school, and in life. Mentors are matched with a SpringSpirit participant in grades 3-12 and commit to meet in person at least once a month.  Mentors must submit to a background check and go through an orientation process before being matched with a mentee.  2 locations in Northern Spring Branch.

Volunteer Position: Donor Relations Manager (Remote)

Reports to: Executive Director

Overview: Project C.U.R.E. is seeking a mission-driven, detail-oriented Donor Relations Manager to serve as a key volunteer supporting donor engagement and relationship development. This remote role works closely with the Executive Director to help build a strong donor pipeline, manage relationships, and coordinate communications that lead to long-term support of our life-saving mission.

Time Commitment: Flexible schedule with a preferred commitment of 4–6 hours per week. Some weekday availability is helpful for coordinating meetings and donor events.    Although this position is primarily remote, we would ask that you come to our Spring Branch warehouse for initial training and then occasionally thereafter.

Impact: By helping us engage and steward new and existing donors, you’ll directly contribute to Project C.U.R.E.’s ability to deliver critical medical supplies to underserved communities around the world. Your work ensures our donors feel valued and connected to the lives they are changing.

Lives can be saved through your involvement with a program that channels badly needed medical supplies to developing countries. You can support the program by helping in our warehouse in southwest Houston. Shifts can be scheduled on an occasional basis and can be arranged for weekdays or Saturdays.

Purpose:  Serves as a volunteer for Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center mobile drives and community events.

As an Application Advisor, you play a crucial role in helping our students submit outstanding job applications. Using the Application Feedback Form and the guidelines provided, you will review, proofread, and offer detailed suggestions to ensure each application meets the highest standards of professionalism. Volunteers will receive 1-3 applications per session to review, helping clients craft "pristine" applications that set them up for success in their job search.

This volunteer opportunity occurs three times a month, aligning with each JSA class cycle, and is conducted entirely electronically. Applications are sent out on Wednesdays, and reviewed submissions must be emailed back by 8:00 AM the following Wednesday. This one-week turnaround is vital as student training programs operate on a tight schedule. By contributing your time and expertise, you’ll directly impact the confidence and success of our clients as they take their next steps toward meaningful employment.

Represent WorkFaith at College Career Fairs!

You will be there with a WorkFaith employee and help to speak with potential clients, volunteers, or anyone interested in learning more about WorkFaith. You will be helping to spread the mission of WorkFaith to the next generation or anyone attending the college fair.

The Community Engagement Ambassador position strengthens WorkFaith’s presence in the community by helping us build awareness and connect with individuals and potential partner organizations who may benefit from our programs. Community Engagement Ambassadors will represent WorkFaith at resource fairs, outreach events, and in everyday interactions, sharing our mission and introducing people to the opportunities we offer.

By engaging with community members, partners, and local organizations, Community Engagement Ambassadors help expand our reach and support our mission of empowering individuals through faith-based job readiness training. Their involvement ensures consistent visibility for WorkFaith and creates meaningful connections that benefit both our clients and the broader community.

When you sign up, the Volunteer Coordinator will reach out to you to schedule a quick Zoom meeting. After that, you will get in contact with the Partnership Specialist to learn more about the role and events you may go to. As a Prayer Warrior, you’ll receive meaningful prayer requests connected to WorkFaith and have the opportunity to lift up our clients, staff, and mission in a powerful way. You’ll also be invited to join a Zoom prayer gathering led by our Prayer Warrior Lead, where we come together in community to pray with purpose and intention.

The Volunteer Prayer Warrior Lead is a spiritually mature leader called to anchor WorkFaith in prayer. This individual will oversee our community of Volunteer Prayer Warriors, ensuring that our clients, staff, and mission are consistently lifted before the Lord. You will not only lead prayer but also build the infrastructure to grow and mentor a team.

This is an ideal opportunity for someone who wants to regularly give back to their community but may have limited time to volunteer, with a total commitment of approximately 1½ hours per week.

West Houston Assistance Ministries has eleven (11) thriving raised beds who need more love and attention. What is grown is distributed through our food pantry and given to our clients to help with food insecurities.  We have several volunteers, including a Master Gardener, who are trying to maintain the demands of the flourishing garden.

We are looking for someone with soccer experience to serve as a referee and informal coach to help facilitate 1 hour of girls soccer. It is a very casual league, the girls would benefit from the experience of someone 18+.

We are looking for people to come out and hide for search dogs while they are training. These people need to be willing to come out for at least a few hours and be willing to run, walk, and hide from the dogs in all different types of scenarios. When found by the dog, they should also be willing to play with the dog per the handler's instructions or offer the dog it's treat reward. It is a lot of fun and a unique experience to help these dogs out!

You'll be provided with a location to walk to in order to "hide" from the canines. The canines will then come find the missing person. Of course, you will never actually be missing, but we always need new people to pretend to be missing. We will be enjoying nature, so dress appropriately with closed-toed shoes and comfortable pants. Be sure to bring water, sunscreen, bug spray and maybe a good book or electronic device to keep you busy during the down time. CWS Houston is recruiting Volunteer Youth Mentors to support newcomer youth ages 15-24. Mentors will be responsible for facilitating once monthly group mentoring sessions with approximately 5 newcomer youth for a total of 6 months. Mentoring sessions are focused on social/emotional support, life skills, cultural orientation, financial literacy, and college or career readiness skills. Mentoring sessions also encourage peer support and social connection amongst group members.

Requirements: Volunteer Youth Mentors must be over the age of 25 years old and must be fluent in English. Prior experience working with newcomer youth is preferred but not required. CWS is prioritizing volunteers with lived experience as newcomers to the U.S.

Location: Mentoring sessions will take place either virtually or in-person depending on client needs and preference. Transportation assistance will be available to youth and mentors who participate in in-person mentoring.

Onboarding: Mentors must submit to CWS’ volunteer background check process before they are cleared to begin services.

Training & Support: Mentors will receive training on mentoring session curriculum prior to facilitating mentoring sessions. Mentors will receive ongoing support, training, and guidance from CWS Staff.

As a dog behavior volunteer, you will help provide various enrichment needs to our dogs (think kongs and nose work!). Enrichment volunteers are essential to help improve the daily lives of our dogs at the shelter.* Our Behavior volunteer program is a five-step program, and you'll start out as a BV1 volunteer (behavior volunteer - level 1). Our behavior program is truly one-of-a-kind. You'll learn such much, like how animals communicate, different types of enrichment, how to read body language, learning theory, and so much more.

After volunteers have completed 12 hours of volunteering they are eligible to assist with our events. They help set up the events, manage animals brought to the event, answer questions from the public and help breakdown afterward.

CCSC partners with local schools to offer vision screening for students on their campuses. Volunteers who enjoy direct involvement with children and are available on weekday mornings, typically during the fall semester, are needed for this program.

BakerRipley's Adult Education program gives our neighbors the skills to succeed in the professional world. Our initiatives help build economic mobility and stability in our community by supporting our neighbors career growth.

We need organized, dependable, and friendly volunteers to welcome in our students. Additionally, volunteers help our office connect students and neighbors to the resources they need in the community, easing the stress of getting help. Volunteers gain experience in essential office skills and are provided letters of recommendation upon request.

This is a long-term position, we are looking for people to commit to at least one shift weekly. Shifts are in the morning (8:30AM - 12:30 PM) or afternoon (1:30AM - 5:30 PM) on Mon, Tue, Wed, and Thur.

We distribute food every Tuesday morning and Thursday morning/afternoon for senior clients.  Help is needed to gather the food and deliver to their cars.  You can volunteer for shifts from 10am-1pm on Tuesdays or 10am-12pm on Thursdays.  We are in particular need for volunteers on Tuesdays.  We ask for a commitment to volunteer 2-4 times per month.  There is typically no heavy lifting, just putting items into a grocery cart and taking it to the clients' cars.  Please join us!

Help Mesa Outreach retrieve donations from local grocery stores.  We need help on Mondays and Thursdays, 9am until complete, usually around 11 am.  You can volunteer as many days as you prefer, even a once-a-month commitment will help.  Volunteers need to be able to lift 50 pounds (most boxes are less) and have a truck.  Stores are 2-12 miles away. 

This food helps us feed our client families each month and is a vital part in making our mission work for our community.  

Astella Hospice is seeking individuals to serve as compassionate friend, offering emotional support, companionship and a listening ear to patients during their final journey. In this role, the volunteer creates a comforting presence, whether by sharing stories, listening to memories, holding a hand or simply sitting quietly. It is not about providing medical care but about being a source of kindness, connection, and understanding, bringing moments of joy and peace to the patient and their loved ones. This meaningful bond will enrich the lives of the volunteer and the patient.

We need volunteers aged 25+ who have a good driving record, clean background, and time to drive survivors of domestic violence to and from crisis centers in the region, or to a family home far away. Great for those who are a little adventurous minded and want to be personally involved in changing lives. We arrange survivor pick-ups in a safe public place, manage travel logistics to be easy for you, and we pay for all trip expenses.

We are looking for followers of Jesus who love soccer and are passionate about helping kids develop strong life skills and values. We provide free soccer practice at various local schools in Alief ISD Monday-Thursday 5:00-6:30pm. As a volunteer, you would be working with the head coach to follow the provided practice curriculum. The curriculum guides you through warm ups, soccer technique, drills, and activities. The unique thing about our program is that all of our soccer sessions are based around a Bible story and life value. We use soccer as a tool to instill valuable life lessons about character and personal development into the players. This is why we request that applicants be strongly committed to their Christian faith, because as a coach, you are also a role model. Help refugees take the first step toward U.S. citizenship by joining our team as a Civics Outreach Volunteer. 

In this role, you’ll make phone calls to clients to share information about our free civics classes, which help prepare adults for the citizenship exam. Your calls help ensure more people can access the resources they need to succeed. 

As a volunteer, you will: 

You don’t need to speak another language or have prior experience—just a welcoming attitude and a desire to support others on their citizenship journey. If you do speak a language like Spanish, Dari, Pashto, Arabic, or Urdu, that’s a wonderful bonus!

Cornerstone Family Resource Center (CFRC) is seeking community groups, businesses, churches, schools, and individuals to host a toiletry and cleaning supply drive to support low-income families living at Premier on Woodfair Apartments.

For many residents, everyday essentials like soap, detergent, toilet paper, and cleaning supplies are not covered by SNAP or other assistance programs. These items are often the first to be cut when families are choosing between rent, utilities, food, and medical needs. Your drive helps fill that critical gap and directly supports families’ health, dignity, and housing stability.

CFRC makes it easy to participate:
 - We provide collection boxes
 - We provide a ready-to-use flyer
 - We pick up all donations at the end of the drive

Suggested donation items include:
 - Soap, shampoo, toothpaste, deodorant
 - Toilet paper, paper towels
 - Laundry detergent, dish soap

BEI's journal club focuses on helping students practice writing in English, learning tech skills, and creating community. As a volunteer, you will help edit students' writing, lead discussions, and build relationships with students and other volunteers.
