Artist's Load - In

Direct traffic and flow as the Artists arrive to and on to the festival grounds. This will be a crucial support role for Artists and festival staff to ensure a successful setup for the festival! Volunteers will be stationed at various points throughout festival grounds directing Artists driving into the festival and may answer a few questions. Volunteers will work closely with the Artist Relations Committee. This is a great role for someone with lots of energy and great leadership! (Volunteers must be 18 and older)

Ticket Scanner

Scan patrons admission tickets utilizing mobile phone and to briefly share festival information. Volunteers will be positioned at one of our three entrance gates. This position has direct exposure to sunlight, so please remember to bring a hat and sunscreen.

Usher Assistant

Lead volunteers from the volunteer check-in tent to the location of their volunteer position. This role is hugely important in ensuring that volunteers are adequately prepared for their shifts and in position. Between getting people in place, you'll support the Volunteer Check-In team as needed. Familiarity with the festival and volunteering is a plus. There is a lot of walking, and this is a great way to see the festival from every direction!

Musicians On Call (MOC) brings live and recorded music to the bedsides of patients, families and caregivers in healthcare environments. Musicians On Call (MOC) needs YOU to help us spread the healing power of music to those who need it most!  Volunteer Guides (non-musicians) escort Volunteer Musicians room to room as they play music for patients, families and caregivers in healthcare environments. The Volunteer Guide acts as the "eyes and ears" during the MOC Bedside shift and is the liaison between the hospital, patient, and the Volunteer Musician. Wesley's Food Pantry needs volunteers for the Drive-thru Food Distribution to help our Houston neighbors who are in desperate need of food.

Volunteers will assist with planting and maintaining 14 raised garden beds that grow a variety of fruits and vegetables using organic practices. The garden supports our community pantry, with 98% of the harvest donated and 2% available for volunteers to take home.

Volunteers will help care for the garden year-round, including watering, weeding, harvesting, and protecting plants based on weather conditions. The pantry is open Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., and on the third and fourth Saturday of the month from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

Currently, we have two volunteers who assist once a week and one volunteer who helps more frequently, and we are looking to expand our volunteer team. No prior gardening experience is required—just a willingness to help and learn!

Bread of Life. Inc. is located on the campus of St. John's UMC Downtown at 2019 Crawford St., Houston, TX 77002. The distribution takes place behind the church, underneath the Pierce Elevated. Parking for volunteers is available in the parking lot across the street from the church on Gray St., all other parking is metered Mon - Sat until 6pm, (with the exception of Jackson St. where street parking is free).

The Friends of Woodland Park (FWP) is seeking a Garden Director as a non-voting member of
FWP with responsibility for the garden areas surrounding the community center, Firefly Field
garden, the entrances to Woodland Park and other possible areas in the future. The Garden
Director will liaise with one or more FWP Board members. Attendance at FWP board meetings
is not required unless requested by the board. A commitment of 12 months is preferred.

Expectations Include:
Maintain all current beds which may include adding more plants as needed.
Oversee design of future beds.
Work with volunteer coordinator to solicit volunteers and organize seasonal workdays for garden maintenance.
Coordinate with Girl Scout and Boy Scout troop leaders if they ask to volunteer for required
required service hours.
Suggest to the board new ways to enhance the attractiveness of the park using plants.
Consider the creation of educational activities for children focused on gardening.
Follow Houston Parks and Recreation Department guidelines for garden maintenance and hosting events.

Join us at Woodland Park and Freed Art and Nature Park for the Trash Bash 2026! Friends of Woodland Park is participating in the largest single-day waterway clean-up event in Texas. It is held at locations throughout Houston each spring in continuation of the Galveston Bay Foundation's mission to clean up and promote healthy waterways that lead to Galveston Bay.

Woodland Park, located at 212 Parkview Street, is one of the City's oldest public parks and an officially designated nature preserve.

We'll provide trash bags, gloves, trash grabbers, sunscreen, bug spray, snacks and water. 

We urge you to wear long pants, closed toed shoes and a hat.

Celebrate Earth Day with us by helping spruce up Woodland Park and Nature Preserve and Freed Art and Nature Park. At the same time, participate in the international event called Nature Challenge by taking photos of wildlife you see in the park. 

We'll collect trash and conduct trail maintenance (cut vines, spread mulch, mark trails).

We will provide gloves, trash grabbers, bags, tools, water, snacks, sunscreen and bug spray. 

We recommend you wear long pants, closed toe shoes that can get dirty and a hat. 

Want to get outdoors and lead people? Friends of Woodland Park (FWP) is looking for 4-6 people to manage logistics and materials for park work days. Volunteers annually remove 10-15,000 pounds of trash from the Little White Oak Bayou floodplain within Woodland Park.

FWP usually sponsors 7 community work days annually (Jan, Feb, Mar, April, Sept, Oct, Nov) plus Earth Day (corporate weekday event, April).  Scout projects may also require support. 

Friends of Woodland Park is an all volunteer organization and this is a volunteer opportunity. 

Expectations:

Cleanups are generally held on Saturday mornings, with occasional weekday cleanups for corporate groups. 

With help from the Green Team Leads and FWP board, team members will identify supplies and tools needed using provided checklists. Supplies generally include FWP Flags, canopy, info kit, table cloth, gloves, trash grabbers, trash bags, water coolers and cups, snacks, first aid kit, bug spray and hand sanitizer. Team members will gather equipment from storage located at 2515 Washington Avenue and any other supplies (such as snacks) and ensure that committee members can receive them on clean-up day or prior.

Meals on Wheels for Greater Houston needs your help to deliver to homebound seniors.  Delivering is our greatest volunteer need and is also the most meaningful and impactful volunteer opportunity we offer. Bayou Village School is a small non-profit elementary school located in the Near Northside community. We have a fledgling chess club, started last year under the supervision of parent volunteers. Chess club participants are in 2nd-6th grade (ages 7 through 11). Typically there are 10-15 students who participate. Two parent volunteers are present for each chess club gathering for behavior management and hands-on support. 

We are seeking a person or people with chess awareness and ability- you do not have to have prior experience as a chess coach (but it would be a plus!) Students in our chess club have a good mastery of the basics and are ready to take their play to the next level. Chess club meeting days can be flexible- we typically meet twice a month from 3:30-5pm. Days can be selected that work with the coach's schedule!

TERJA hosts monthly workshops in the Houston community focused on Menstrual Health for girls and young women. These workshops address crucial topics, including menstrual health equity, period poverty, sustainable solutions, and breaking the silence, shame, and stigma associated with menstruation. Participants watch videos and listen to stories from girls and young women in Kenya who are combating period poverty by creating reusable sanitary pads using local materials. The workshops include discussions on TERJA’s reusable sanitary pads, which are made from organic, biodegradable materials, and explore how sustainable, eco-friendly solutions can help alleviate period poverty. A local tailor will demonstrate how to create reusable pads and underwear using both sewing machines and traditional hand sewing techniques. Following the demonstration, attendees participate in hands-on activities, where they create their own reusable pads, underwear, and bags, with ongoing support provided. We are seeking volunteers to serve as facilitators during these workshops.

Volunteers will be required to attend an orientation and training session before the first workshop. Your involvement will be instrumental in empowering girls and young women through education and practical skills.   

This volunteer position Is the beginning of the check in process of the clients. Volunteers will receive referrals from clients seeking assistance with obtaining identification documents then enter it into the database.

Volunteers interview individuals needing documents of identification. They will do the paperwork, do the research, and MSM will cover the cost to support clients through this process.

We need an individual who is familiar with Constant Contact and Donor Perfect. An individual who will help through our fundraising efforts going on now then again in late summer.

We need a volunteer to greet clients on Op Id days, help find them seats help make them feel welcome. Help the Op Id intake team when needed, make coffee, serve snacks, clean up as the morning progresses.

Volunteers conduct interviews with individuals who need identification documents, assisting with paperwork and research throughout the process. MSM covers all associated costs to ensure clients receive the support they need. Bilingual volunteers provide additional guidance for Spanish-speaking individuals, helping them navigate each step with clarity and confidence.

Life Empowerment provides education, community, and financial support to help Houstonians move out of poverty through workshops. We empower workshop graduates to secure housing, achieve stability, and build long-term sustainability through targeted programs and strong community partnerships. As a facilitator, volunteers make sure workshops run smoothly throughout the program.

A Handyman provides basic maintenance and repair services to ensure safe, functional working spaces. Responsibilities include handling minor repairs such as painting, replacing lightbulbs, helping maintain clean, comfortable, and well-kept environments, and more.

Tech Support volunteers provide in-office assistance to ensure staff devices and systems operate smoothly and efficiently. Responsibilities include troubleshooting common technical issues, setting up and maintaining equipment, and providing day-to-day support, helping volunteers stay connected and productive.

Target Hunger had to close many of its brick-and-mortar pantries due to COVID-19. We began delivering prepackaged boxes of food to our client's homes, in partnership with Door Dash. This partnership with Door Dash is coming to an end so we are trying to switch our clients over to our mobile pantries. Staff has expressed the need of volunteers specifically on Tuesdays usually from 9am to 11am. Volunteers in the pantry will help pantry staff guide client's shopping, the restocking of the mobile pantry, and assist clients to their cars. Bilingual preferred. Prefer a reoccurring volunteer.

Food Fairs are pop-up food distributions completely open to the public. These fairs prioritize fresh produce, serving an average of 150 to 220 households at each event. Volunteers play a vital role in the success of these events by setting up tents, repackaging bulk produce, and distributing the goods directly to clients. These events are particularly rewarding because volunteers can see the immediate impact of their efforts, making a tangible difference in the lives of those we serve.

The AIP BIPOC Network is seeking volunteers to represent our organization at health fairs, expos, and local events. You’ll help staff our table, share information about our programs, take photos, and engage with community members. The Afterschool is Cool Youth Expo:  Game Plan for Success brings together middle and high school students from across Harris County for a full day of exploration.  This year's event will be at the University of Houston- Main Campus.  This high energy event helps students develop a Championship Mindset as they learn about future opportunities in education, careers, and the workforce.  

Students will participate in interactive workshops, hear from professionals during a kickoff panel, and connect with colleges, career programs, and community organizations in the Opportunity Arena. The goal is to help young people explore their interests, understand their options after high school, and begin building their personal Game Plan for Success.

Volunteers play an important role in helping the day run smoothly by supporting student check-in, guiding groups between sessions, assisting presenters and exhibitors, and helping create a welcoming and engaging environment for students. This is a great opportunity to encourage and inspire the next generation as they prepare for their futures.
