Adult volunteer mentors from the community are recruited, screened and trained to provide visitation to juveniles in the Fort Bend County Juvenile Probation Detention Center. The juveniles chosen to receive a mentor are usually those that do not have anyone coming to visit them, are going to be there longer than average, and just need one-to-one visits. This program is designed for mentors to provide support, listen and encourage the juvenile while they are being detained in the detention center.

Adult volunteer mentors from the community are recruited, screened and trained. After clearance, the mentor is carefully matched by gender and geographical proximity with a youth that is currently involved with the Fort Bend County Juvenile Probation Department. These juveniles are between the ages of 10 and 17 and are living in their home. Each week , the mentor will offer one-to-one support and encouragement by participating in activities such as: talking at the park, playing sports, going to the movies, having dinner, going to the library, etc. This program provides the juvenile an opportunity to spend quality time with a positive adult role model.

We are looking for followers of Jesus who love soccer and are passionate about helping kids develop strong life skills and values. We provide free soccer practice at various local schools in Alief ISD Monday-Thursday 5:00-6:30pm. As a volunteer, you would be working with the head coach to follow the provided practice curriculum. The curriculum guides you through warm ups, soccer technique, drills, and activities. The unique thing about our program is that all of our soccer sessions are based around a Bible story and life value. We use soccer as a tool to instill valuable life lessons about character and personal development into the players. For many residents, everyday essentials like soap, detergent, toilet paper, and cleaning supplies are not covered by SNAP or other assistance programs. These items are often the first to be cut when families are choosing between rent, utilities, food, and medical needs. Your drive helps fill that critical gap and directly supports families’ health, dignity, and housing stability.

CFRC makes it easy to participate:

BEI's journal club focuses on helping students practice writing in English, learning tech skills, and creating community. As a volunteer, you will help edit students' writing, lead discussions, and build relationships with students and other volunteers.

WHAM is focused on helping those in crisis return to self-sustainability.  Our pantry distributes nutritious food Tuesday - Friday.  On Fridays from 7:30am - 12:00pm we host a Drive through Food distribution serving 150 families or more.  Volunteers would assist with any of the following: client intake, direct traffic, load fresh produce and dry goods into trunks of cars, bag fresh produce and other items, and light clean up.

Astella Hospice is seeking individuals to serve as compassionate friend, offering emotional support, companionship and a listening ear to patients during their final journey. In this role, the volunteer creates a comforting presence, whether by sharing stories, listening to memories, holding a hand or simply sitting quietly. It is not about providing medical care but about being a source of kindness, connection, and understanding, bringing moments of joy and peace to the patient and their loved ones. This meaningful bond will enrich the lives of the volunteer and the patient.

We are a foster based Houston area shelter rescue and in dire need of foster homes. We have many puppies and dogs, kittens and cats on a waiting list to get out of the shelter. We do not have a shelter and depend on individuals to provide a foster home to help us save them from the shelter. Once we have a committed foster home, we can save a puppy/dog or kitten/cat from the shelter. To foster you will need to care for the pet in your home and bring to adoptions on some weekends at one of our adoption locations until adopted.

In observance of the Great American Clean-up, one of the activities will be a trash bash.  Meet at 11350 Ricecrest by the Oak tree in the park to sign in. This event is organized by Christ the King Evangelical Lutheran Church and the Interfaith Environmental Network of Houston, in partnership with the Willow Waterhole Greenspace Conservancy.  The conservancy requires signing of a waiver to participate. Join us at Paul Revere Middle School to help grow, maintain, and harvest fresh vegetables from our thriving community garden. Located right on campus, this garden provides nutritious produce to supplement food distributed to families through a bi-monthly food distribution program. No gardening experience is required—just a willing heart and a pair of helping hands! This opportunity is flexible, with both weekday and weekend times available. All are welcome to be part of this life-giving project that strengthens our community.

We are looking for people to come out and hide for search dogs while they are training. These people need to be willing to come out for at least a few hours and be willing to run, walk, and hide from the dogs in all different types of scenarios. When found by the dog, they should also be willing to play with the dog per the handler's instructions or offer the dog it's treat reward. It is a lot of fun and a unique experience to help these dogs out!

You'll be provided with a location to walk to in order to "hide" from the canines. The canines will then come find the missing person. Of course, you will never actually be missing, but we always need new people to pretend to be missing. We will be enjoying nature, so dress appropriately with closed-toed shoes and comfortable pants. Be sure to bring water, sunscreen, bug spray and maybe a good book or electronic device to keep you busy during the down time. BakerRipley's Adult Education program gives our neighbors the skills to succeed in the professional world. Our initiatives help build economic mobility and stability in our community by supporting our neighbors career growth.

We need organized, dependable, and friendly volunteers to welcome in our students. Additionally, volunteers help our office connect students and neighbors to the resources they need in the community, easing the stress of getting help. Volunteers gain experience in essential office skills and are provided letters of recommendation upon request.

This is a long-term position, we are looking for people to commit to at least one shift weekly. Shifts are in the morning (8:30AM - 12:30 PM) or afternoon (1:30AM - 5:30 PM) on Mon, Tue, Wed, and Thur.

We will put you to work cleaning bikes, fixing flats and helping around the shop. Each time you come back, you will learn something new. A lot of our most experienced mechanics started exactly where you're starting — with no idea how much they'd love this.

The work has an immediate payoff. People come to the shop every weekend to pick up a bike that will get them to work, to school, to the grocery store. You will see that happen.

Our volunteers repair donated bikes that go to refugees, veterans and young people from low-income families in Houston — people who depend on these bikes to get to work and school. Last year our mechanics repaired and distributed more than 640 bikes. The bottleneck is always skilled hands.

Our shop is well equipped with tools, parts and a repair checklist developed with input from a master bike technician. If you know most bike systems — drivetrain, shifting, brakes, wheels and tires, handlebars and steering — you will be repairing bikes on your first visit. If you're still building your skills, our experienced volunteers are generous with what they know.

Our refugee and veteran customers rarely ask for road bikes or beach cruisers. We do not accept used helmets, small children’s bikes, scooters or tag-alongs. If it’s not economic for Freewheels to repair a donated used bike, we often reclaim parts and components that can be used on other bikes. We have partnerships with people who will take bikes we don’t plan to repair and deliver them to organizations in Mexico. When we receive a road bike, we may try to sell it and and use the proceeds to pay for parts, supplies, safety equipment and rent.

General Day Center volunteers enjoy socializing with our members with dementia and help us lead activities. They may also help with special events or other specific projects happening in the center. Training on communication and activities will be provided.

We need outgoing volunteers to work at the Day Center Front Desk one or two days a week. Their primary job is to greet families as they pick up their loved ones and walk Day Center members in and out of the Day Center. Training will be provided.

Help Mesa Outreach retrieve donations from local grocery stores.  We need help on Mondays and Thursdays, 9am until complete, usually around 11 am.  You can volunteer as many days as you prefer, even a once-a-month commitment will help.  Volunteers need to be able to lift 50 pounds (most boxes are less) and have a truck.  Stores are 2-12 miles away. 

This food helps us feed our client families each month and is a vital part in making our mission work for our community.  

We distribute food every Tuesday morning and Thursday morning/afternoon for senior clients.  Help is needed to gather the food and deliver to their cars.  You can volunteer for shifts from 10am-1pm on Tuesdays or 10am-12pm on Thursdays.  We are in particular need for volunteers on Tuesdays.  We ask for a commitment to volunteer 2-4 times per month.  There is typically no heavy lifting, just putting items into a grocery cart and taking it to the clients' cars.  Please join us!

Our Volunteer Docent Program is a volunteer level that can be reached by individuals that are interested in having a more autonomous experience representing the Arboretum and our missions. All Docent activities require onboarding, additional trainings, training time as a 'Shadow' to learn from current Docents and Arboretum Staff, and a commitment of at least 20 Docent specific volunteer hours a year. This position supports the Regional Volunteer Services department. Assists the implementation of the regional volunteer recruitment plan by performing volunteer recruitment activities to attract a skilled, talented and diverse volunteers workforce to service in all lines of business around the organization.

5-10 hours per month

Meetings and presentations will primarily be Monday-Friday 8am-5pm.

Limited additional events may be available after hours or on weekends.

What: In this opportunity, as an advocate for WorkFaith, you will be supporting us in community outreach by engaging by phone with potential partners. You will be responsible for researching and reaching out to organizations that align with WorkFaith's goals and values. The aim is to help us build partnerships and expand our reach in the community. Persona: This volunteer is experienced in sales or recruiting and enjoys using their social skills to connect with new people. They have a deep understanding about the mission WorkFaith which they use to advocate for our clients within the community.

Responsible for the creative vision and direction of our brand or specific projects, from concept to execution. To oversee the creation of creative assets, such as advertisements, products, events, or logos, and ensure that the project's visuals and messages align with the vision. 

Volunteer Career Coaches aim to help individuals secure long-term employment, advance their careers, or transition professionally.

Coaches will assist with:

Time: Coaches are asked to commit to regular volunteer service for this opportunity.

Ideal Candidate: The ideal candidate enjoys coaching, motivating and supporting others in search of employment. Experience in recruiting, not-for-profit, social work, management or motivational speaking is helpful for this position. In conjunction with our mission, coaches are passionate about serving others and are willing to offer spiritual guidance with a Christian perspective.

Next Steps: This position requires a pre-screening through both the Volunteer and Programs Departments, a successful background check and completion of an online, 2-hour training course. Additionally, prospective volunteer coaches will have live training/shadowing sessions with a WorkFaith Career Coach.

Help improve the well-being of individuals experiencing unsheltered homelessness in Houston by providing essential First Aid Kits. These kits can help address the immediate health needs of individuals living on the streets, offering basic medical supplies to treat minor injuries and illnesses. Your generosity can help provide items like bandages, antiseptic wipes, gauze, and other first-aid essentials, offering comfort and care to those who often have limited access to medical resources.

We are a nonprofit organization, and we provide tutorial services for students who are struggling academically. Elementary to High School ages 

Reading.  Math.  Writing
