AccentCare Hospice is piloting a Virtual Reality Experience Program for hospice patients. Virtual Reality Experience Volunteers will be trained to work alongside the Hospice Social Worker to bring provided virtual reality equipment into the patient's home and engage them with experiences they would never have access to normally. Virtual Reality Experiences include touring cities around the world, joining deep sea divers, exploring nature preserves and more! 

Meals on Wheels delivers hot, well-balanced meals to the doors of seniors and other neighbors who are homebound because of disability or illness. By supporting their nutritional needs, this program helps participants maintain or improve their health, remain independent, and stay in their homes for as long as possible.

When you become a volunteer with NAM Meals on Wheels, you deliver more than just a nutritious meal because you provide a smiling face and a much needed human connection to seniors and disabled adults in Northwest Harris County.  We rely on the ability of our volunteers to pick up and deliver hot meals (or frozen meals/groceries) to our clients from one of our three convenient locations listed below. Adopt A Cat is a non-profit, no-kill cat shelter that cares for the abandoned and relinquished cats of the Greater Houston Area.

Our mission is to rescue, rehabilitate, and foster homeless felines until safe, caring, and permanent homes are found for them.

We are a grassroots organization whose success and growth is a result of caring individuals working together in their communities to rescue cats.

We need volunteers who can help with the day-to-day direct care of the cats and the shelter, including things such as:

Anyone interested must be comfortable being around and handling cats, as many of our cats are outside of cages and are allowed to freely roam the shelter.

At Adopt A Cat, we know that it takes more than just a roof over a cats head to consider them saved and ready for a new home.

Many of our cats were previously strays, or have just left their homes for an extended period of time for what is likely the first time in their lives.

We want all of our residents to receive love, comfort, and specialized time that works with their comfort level. Whether that means lap time with lots of pets, playing with wand toys from a distance, or even just staying safely inside of their cage while listening to someone talk about their day, every cat can start or continue the socialization process somewhere.

We are looking for volunteers who are comfortable with being around and handling cats who can come in to the shelter and spend time with all of our kitties to help them flourish into the happy and healthy cats we know that they can be. This will also help them to get ready for adoption and entering their new homes.

(We'll absolutely understand if there is some bribing with treats and catnip that occurs during the process.)

One of the most important aspects of the shelter is building up and maintaining the health of our cats, and that is accomplished in part by visits to the vet.

Unfortunately, our shelter vehicle has been of service to us for many, many years now and the toll of that is starting to show itself.

Between the state of our car, the general (and sometimes unexpectedly intense) busyness that comes from the average day, and understaffing, we are relying largely on volunteers to help us get the cats to and from their vet appointments in a timely manner.

Outside of assisting in our cats overcoming existing and/or sudden health issues, you will also be helping them get ready to go to their new forever homes, as every cat that we adopt out is spayed/neutered, vaccinated, combo tested, flea treated, dewormed, and receives any other essential medical care that is necessary to get them on the path to recovery.

Cashiers will be responsible for ringing up customers and accepting cash and card payments. No previous retail experience is necessary, just a good attitude!

All sales at this store will benefit Cypress Assistance Ministries. CAM is a 501c3 non-profit that benefits the Cy-Fair community. We provide rental and utility assistance, maintain a food pantry, provide job hunting resources, as well as other community services.

Cypress Assistance Ministries is opening a second location for our resale store and donation centers. We need volunteers to help us in our new donation center.

Our donation center is broken up into different departments; once you complete an orientation, you will be able to choose which department you would prefer to volunteer in. Departments include: donation intake, clothing, housewares, toys, accessories, electronics, and baby items. Duties vary by department, but include things like cleaning, organizing, sorting, pricing and displaying items in the store. We will provide training to all volunteers.

The donation center is open from 9 am - 3 pm, Monday through Saturday. Most volunteers start off working 3-4 hours, once per week.

Social Services Assistant – Assists Hope Center guests in obtaining services provided by the Social Security Administration. This may include establishing an online account at SSA.gov, setting an appointment to obtain a replacement Social Security card, applying for Social Security retirement benefits, applying for Medicare, applying for disability benefits, and, if necessary, arranging for transportation to the Social Security office.

Greet homeless guests, gather essential details, check eligibility for services, and answer phones. Shift: 8:45 am to 12:00 pm

Cypress Assistance Ministries (CAM) is partnering with some area grocery stores to help provide food for our food pantry. We just need some helpful individuals to pick up the donations from these retailers and help deliver them to CAM's facility.

Programs like this are wonderful resources for CAM, as they help us source items that would be otherwise difficult to source (such as bakery items and produce), and they help reduce food waste in our community.

Volunteers must have access to a vehicle suitable for transporting food items (an SUV or minivan would work perfectly, a sedan with sufficient trunk space would work as well). We will provide insulated bags.

We need weekly drivers for Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. You may choose to volunteer for one, two, or all three of these pick-ups.

Volunteers, with or without children at home,  are needed to host teenage boys and girls from Germany, Italy, Spain, Brazil, Bolivia, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Mongolia, Japan, Ecuador, South Korea, and several other countries. Families can review student applications and choose the boy or girl that matches their family.

SHARE! students speak English, come medically insured, and have their own spending money for personal expenses. They attend the host family’s local high school for a school year or semester.

Encompass is a hospice service serving the Woodlands Area, our job is to take care of the patients’ physical, emotional and spiritual needs. Doctors, nurses, chaplains, social workers and many others work closely together to make sure those needs are met. To meet all of those needs requires a great deal of time and resources.

As a volunteer, you would allow our teams of hospice care specialists to spend more of their focus on our patients during their darkest hour. You would assist staff in a wide range of important duties such as data entry, filing, copying, mailings, and other essential functions required of hospice care. This service would take place in our office during normal business hours Monday through Friday 8 am to 5 pm. Hospice volunteers provide a variety of direct and indirect services to patients and their families. Visits to provide companionship, caregiver relief, errands, music therapy, pet therapy, and other services are examples of direct services. Phone calls, pen-pals, and special projects like blanket crafting are examples of indirect services. Volunteers can also get involved with administrative support by assisting in the office. Participate in events at assisted living such as bingo or karaoke. Attend fairs to recruit volunteers at campuses. Hand out flyers to the community to recruit volunteers.

Ayiti Now Corp is a 501(c)(3) organization based in Miami, Florida and created for empowering marginalized Haiti children of poverty known as "Restavek" in Haitian Creole, the local language) through our educational and support programs.

create presentations using multiple media, photo, video, info graphic, copy, graphics

Role brief:

We are seeking an energetic leader to train, support, mentor, and develop new and existing members of our marketing team. You will oversee not only the ramp-up period of our new volunteers but also ensure the continual growth and knowledge base of our existing marketing team.

This role has a high degree of creative freedom and is a resource for the entire department.

Qualifications/Requirements:

list requirements for this position, including educational qualifications, preferred/required experience, required certifications, preferred experience, time commitment requirements, etc.

Fluent in spoken and written English, able to communicate clearly and consistently .This is required as most Haiti Now volunteers communicate in English

Reliable internet connection a must .this is required as most volunteers work virtually or through the Internet.

Minimum volunteer hours expected:

5 hrs per week- This is required and the average time commitment for Haiti Now volunteers; please note some positions may have different hourly requirements due to the nature of the position, such as for Project Managers.

Proficiency in all areas of Google Apps such as Drive, Docs, Sheets, etc. This is required as these tools are central to most volunteers’ contribution to Haiti Now

Familiarity with or quick adoption of Trello and Slack tools important .These are required as these tools are central to most volunteers’ contribution to Haiti Now

Help us celebrate children in low-income families around the greater Houston Area by having a Party Supply Drive in support of us.

Please ask your family, friends, and neighbors to donate unopened party supplies. All items donated will be added to the Birthday Boxes that we give out every month to celebrate children in low-income families.
