Volunteer: Volunteer Administrative Assistant/Test AdministratorSummary: The Volunteer will tend to visitors and deal with inquiries on the phone and face to face regarding the Adult Education program. Community Family Center’s Adult Education Program offers ESL and GED courses as well as support with workforce development. The Volunteer can support the staff up to 3 days per week for 3 hours per day at any of the following shifts: 9 am- 12pm; 1 pm- 4pm; 5 pm - 8 pm. The Volunteer would also provide of support with student progress tests. Professional development opportunities will be made available.
Support may include: 1. Answering incoming phone calls, taking and relaying messages 2. Ensuring that all participants entering are greeted and directed to their destination. 3. Providing current information to callers or participants regarding AE program 4. Assisting with registration, orientation and test administration.
Qualifications Knowledge of computer and relevant skills applications Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures Good verbal and written communication skills, preferably bilingual in spanish. This person must be sensitive to the needs and feelings of others, be able to relate well to adult learners, and be willing to fulfill responsibilities in accordance with the Adult Education Program’s educational standards and philosophy. Professional development opportunities will be made available.
Duties and Responsibilities include: 1. Supporting ESL or GED instructors with instruction in class that may include one-on-one assistance, guiding/leading conversations, small group tutoring 2. Assisting with student orientation 3. Assisting students with referrals and resources 4. Treating all clients with dignity and respect. 5. Attend staff meetings and recommended training programs. 6. Maintaining confidentiality about students, their families, and other employees outside the agency. 7. Helping with the operations of audio/visual aids (projectors, etc)
