Volunteer: Peer Support Guests Hotel Stay InitiativeOur peer support guests volunteer their time at MHI by overseeing the day-to-day duties of the houses for the emergency shelter guests. They receive free room & board and no stipend. Many have expressed the need to take a break. Unfortunately, many have no other place to take a weekend pass. We would love to have in-kind donations of local hotels/motels in Houston of a 2 or 3 day stay for this special group. The donation could come directly from hotel management or in the form of a gift card. Magnificat Houses, Inc. (MHI) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Your donation is tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law. No goods or services are provided in exchange for this donation. Please retain our receipt for your records. RoseMary’s Place: Our new permanent supportive housing facility for 149 residents for an alternative to the streets. It's a fresh start and a supportive environment for those in need, dedicated to providing dignified housing solutions for our homeless population. We usually see 30-40 residents participate.The food needs to be packed to-go, although some residents may stay to chat and eat there in the common area. It can be a simple breakfast, a bag lunch, or a hearty meal. That's up to you. Just let us know what to expect.We suggest choosing an hour to serve, 9 am, Noon, or 3 pm.Volunteer food servers should cover their hair with a hat or hair net.Weekday meals are always needed.We need all adults attending to register on our website and accept our waivers.
