Time commitment: Once a month on Thursdays, 12:30 pm – 2:00 pm

What: As a Mock Interviewer, you will assist our clients currently enrolled in our Job Search Accelerator (JSA) class.  Volunteers help clients practice their job interviewing skills by asking difficult interview questions and providing feedback after each question. Serving in this capacity, you will instill hope and confidence for those navigating a job search.

When: This is an in-person volunteer opportunity that takes place once a month from 12:30PM-2:00PM. Volunteers meet at 4555 Dacoma St. Houston, TX as a group and then meet with 1-3 clients in a designated office at our location.

Responsibilities:

conduct mock interviews with 2-3 clientsask interview questions to simulate real scenariosprovide feedback and encouragement to build confidenceparticipate in group discussions to reinforce learning

Volunteer Career Coaches aim to help individuals secure long-term employment, advance their careers, or transition professionally.

Coaches will assist with:

Job search strategyResume and application developmentInterview techniquesNetworking strategiesSpiritual support and encouragement

Time: Coaches are asked to commit to regular volunteer service for this opportunity.

Ideal Candidate: The ideal candidate enjoys coaching, motivating and supporting others in search of employment. Experience in recruiting, not-for-profit, social work, management or motivational speaking is helpful for this position. In conjunction with our mission, coaches are passionate about serving others and are willing to offer spiritual guidance with a Christian perspective.

Next Steps: This position requires a pre-screening through both the Volunteer and Programs Departments, a successful background check and completion of an online, 2-hour training course. Additionally, prospective volunteer coaches will have live training/shadowing sessions with a WorkFaith Career Coach

Are you someone who enjoys lifting others up through words of encouragement? This opportunity is for volunteers who want to support WorkFaith clients by sharing positive, motivating messages during their class week.

What you’ll do:

Write encouraging notes for clients

Share uplifting, faith-aligned messages, prayer, and scripture that build confidence and motivation

Proofread, review, and edit the first draft of student job applications.

As an Application Advisor, you play a crucial role in helping our students submit outstanding job applications. Using the Application Feedback Form and the guidelines provided, you will review, proofread, and offer detailed suggestions to ensure each application meets the highest standards of professionalism. Volunteers will receive 1-3 applications per session to review, helping clients craft "pristine" applications that set them up for success in their job search.

This volunteer opportunity occurs three times a month, aligning with each JSA class cycle, and is conducted entirely electronically. Applications are sent out on Wednesdays, and reviewed submissions must be emailed back by 8:00 AM the following Wednesday. This one-week turnaround is vital as student training programs operate on a tight schedule. By contributing your time and expertise, you’ll directly impact the confidence and success of our clients as they take their next steps toward meaningful employment.
