The Quality Assurance Support Volunteer will assist in organizing, maintaining, and auditing client case files across multiple programs, including Reception and Placement (R&P), Matching Grant (MG), Preferred Communities (PC) and Social Integration Microenterprises (SIMED). The volunteer will be responsible for ensuring that all documentation is up-to-date, secure, and easily accessible, while also providing language interpretation when needed, supporting data entry, reporting, and system development for efficient file management.

This role involves collaboration with various program teams to ensure adherence to grant requirements, particularly regarding file management and security. The volunteer will also participate in team meetings to contribute to progress reports and help develop strategies for improving quality assurance.

This role offers valuable experience in refugee resettlement, program administration, and compliance management. The volunteer will gain hands-on experience in case management, employment counseling, and the operational side of federally funded refugee programs.

Program Support and Compliance
• File Management: Organize and maintain both physical and electronic client case files. Ensure that documentation for all programs (R&P, MG, PC, etc.) is up to date, easily accessible, and secure.
• Data Entry & Reporting: Perform accurate data entry for case documentation, service provision, and client outcomes when needed. Utilize SharePoint and Refugee Management System to manage data files, generate reports, and track program progress.
• Document Management System Development: Assist in creating and implementing systems to streamline document storage and retrieval processes. Conduct regular audits to ensure compliance with organizational standards.

Volunteers are needed for the Texas Challengers Quiz Tournaments (TCQT) middle school and high school Quiz Bowl tournament at Katy High School on Saturday, January 10. Most volunteers will serve as moderators and read questions to the students. Moderators will need to complete a quick 10-15 minute training before volunteering. Volunteers can also serve as scorekeepers. Training for scorekeepers takes about 5 minutes. Free pizza will be provided for lunch. Partial shifts are welcome.

Invest yourself in building relationships with children and help spark their imagination through music, learning activities, play, and creative art activities. Activities are planned and directed by the classroom teacher. (Available times: 8 - 11 am and 3 - 5 pm)

Spend one-on-one time with a child who requires individualized help or attention. Invest in the Prayer, Affirmation, and Love of one specific child. Curriculum and activities will be provided. (Available times: 8 - 11 am and 3 - 5 pm)

Spend time visiting with a group of 2 to 3 children, reading and doing interactive education kits. (Available times: 8 - 11 am and 3 - 5 pm)

Provide general assistance at the centers. This may include: developing and organizing supplies and materials, prepping gifts for teachers and mothers, assisting at any of the above events, helping at graduation, data input, cutting, laminating, printing, filing, snack prep, bulletin board prep, building classroom furniture, cleaning classroom rugs, and other general activities. Provide support to teachers during lunch and nap time transitions. Volunteers will assist in cleaning up after lunch, sweeping the classroom, wiping down tables, disposing of trash, helping children wash their hands and change their clothes, and patting the children to sleep. West Houston Assistance Ministries has eleven (11) thriving raised beds who need more love and attention. What is grown is distributed through our food pantry and given to our clients to help with food insecurities.  We have several volunteers, including a Master Gardener, who are trying to maintain the demands of the flourishing garden.

WHAM is in need of Pantry Shoppers Tuesday - Thursday from 7:30am - 12:00pm and 12:30pm - 3:30pm to assist our clients shop the pantry shelves, refrigerators and freezer.  We have an additional shift on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday and Thursday of the month from 3:00pm - 5:00pm.  Volunteers would advise the clients the number allowed of each item, help load and unload and restock as needed.

WHAM is focused on helping those in crisis return to self-sustainability.  Our pantry distributes to nutritious food Tuesday - Friday.  On Fridays from 7:30am - 12:00pm we host a Drive through Food distribution serving 150 families or more.  Volunteers would assist with any of the following: client intake, direct traffic, load fresh produce and dry goods into trunks of cars, bag fresh produce and other items, and light clean up.

WHAM is in need of volunteers to accompany our pantry and resale store drivers to pick up donated furniture and household items as well as donations from local restaurants and grocery stores.  The pantry driver shift is 6:00am - 12:00pm. The resale driver shift is 9:00am - 2:00pm.

The Down Syndrome Association of Houston has a soccer program which meets weekly. We need volunteers to help teach basic skills and to make sure the coaching sessions are fun and fulfilling.

The HMC is proud to be home to soccer programs for our refugee youth. The Eagles (boys) and The Golden Eagles (girls).

The teams meet and play on the first and third Saturdays of each month, at the IndoorSoccerBox, located at 1530 W Sam Houston Pkwy N. Beginning in November, we'll be meeting at Burnett Bayland Park in Southwest Houston.

We are looking for someone with soccer experience to serve as a referee and informal coach to help facilitate 1 hour of girls soccer. It is a very casual league, the girls would benefit from the experience of someone 18+.

We are looking for followers of Jesus who love soccer and are passionate about helping kids develop strong life skills and values. We provide free soccer practice at various local schools in Alief ISD Monday-Thursday 5:00-6:30pm. As a volunteer, you would be working with the head coach to follow the provided practice curriculum. The curriculum guides you through warm ups, soccer technique, drills, and activities. The unique thing about our program is that all of our soccer sessions are based around a Bible story and life value. We use soccer as a tool to instill valuable life lessons about character and personal development into the players. This is why we request that applicants be strongly committed to their Christian faith, because as a coach, you are also a role model. Astella Hospice is seeking individuals to serve as compassionate friend, offering emotional support, companionship and a listening ear to patients during their final journey. In this role, the volunteer creates a comforting presence, whether by sharing stories, listening to memories, holding a hand or simply sitting quietly. It is not about providing medical care but about being a source of kindness, connection, and understanding, bringing moments of joy and peace to the patient and their loved ones. This meaningful bond will enrich the lives of the volunteer and the patient.

Help Mesa Outreach retrieve donations from local grocery stores.  We need help on Mondays and Thursdays, 9am until complete, usually around 11 am.  You can volunteer as many days as you prefer, even a once-a-month commitment will help.  Volunteers need to be able to lift 50 pounds and have a truck or large SUV.  This food helps us feed our client families each month and is a vital part in making our mission work for our community.  

Help needed to prepare and distribute food to families.  Duties would be to organize the donations to go out and assist the runners in filling the carts for the families.  Help needed from 3-7pm.

Bilingual help is needed in our pantry to assist the manager with providing items for our volunteers who take the food to the families' cars.  Every Thursday from 3-7pm.

Emergency Services provides food and clothing as well as financial assistance to those in crisis. Volunteers are needed to help greet clients, answer phone inquiries, interview clients, help in the food pantry, or provide administrative assistance. We especially need bilingual (Spanish / English) volunteers.

Help is needed each week process applications for new clients each Wednesday.  Shifts are available from 10am-12pm and 12pm-2pm.  Work is indoors, seated.  Registration involves entering application data into computer program and speaking with the clients about their needs.  Come help us each week as we assist families needing food assistance in the NW Houston area.  Volunteer once a month or more.

We distribute food every Tuesday morning and Thursday morning/afternoon for senior clients.  Help is needed to gather the food and deliver to their cars.  You can volunteer for shifts from 10am-12pm on Tuesdays or 10am-12pm and 12pm-2pm on Thursdays.  We are in particular need for volunteers on Tuesdays.  We ask for a commitment to volunteer 2-4 times per month.  There is typically no heavy lifting, just putting items into a grocery cart and taking it to the clients' cars.  Please join us!

Join us to provide bilingual help to check in families to receive food.  Food distribution takes place on Thursday evenings between 4:30pm and 7:00pm.  You may volunteer weekly or 1-2 times per month, however an ongoing monthly commitment is requested.

The bike you are not riding holds the key to freedom for a refugee, veteran or young person who needs a way to work or school. Donate your bike to Freewheels and our volunteers will clean and repair it and provide a way for people to get to work or school.

Our greatest need is for adult mountain bikes and hybrids with 26-inch and 700c wheels. We also need youth bikes with 24-inch wheels and 20-inch wheels.

Our refugee and veteran customers rarely ask for road bikes or beach cruisers. We do not accept used helmets, children’s bikes, scooters or tag-alongs. If it’s not economic for Freewheels to repair a donated used bike, we often reclaim parts and components that can be used on other bikes. We have partnerships with people who will take bikes we don’t plan to repair and deliver them to organizations in Mexico.

When we receive a road bike, we may try to sell it and and use the proceeds to pay for parts, supplies, safety equipment and rent.

Ever wonder where those Red Barrel donations go – they go to your local food pantry!

Volunteers are needed to pick up Red Barrel food donations from two nearby grocery stores in the Cypress area and deliver donations to the Cy-Fair Helping Hands Community Food Pantry at 9204 Emmott Road on a Monday or Thursday morning between the hours of 9:00 am – 12:30 pm. Volunteers must be over 18, have a large vehicle (e.g., pick-up truck, van or SUV) and car insurance. They have approx 90 residents (making or buying cards is only if you want to be guaranteed a card to pass out) any amount of cards are appreciate. 

Bring the Spirit of a Holiday to Those Who Otherwise Might Not Have a Celebration! Make a Difference!! Brighten someone’s holiday and help them know they have not been forgotten.

Time spent at the facilities will vary, but generally the visits last from about 1 to 2 hours, depending on the size of the facility and other circumstances unique to the team and the facility. (Sometimes the staff on duty want us to visit in a communal area of the facility such as a recreation room or dining hall. Other times we are invited to do both a communal visit and then break into small clusters to visit room-to-room for those persons who don't get out of their rooms. Which of these approaches is used also affects the total length of time we spend at a particular facility.)

Visit Policies:
1. Remember that you are in a medical facility. Be aware and be careful.
2. Do not assist a resident in moving from or to a wheelchair. Ask an employee to help.
3. Do not feed or offer food to residents unless directed by an employee.
4. When entering a resident’s room, always knock and introduce yourself as a volunteer. Ask permission before entering.
5. Stay with the group as you move through the facility.
6. Do not go into isolation rooms, those rooms will be marked with a sign to see staff before entering. If you are passing out cards please give staff cards for residents in isolation rooms.
7. Because of HIPAA Privacy Rules most facilities require a signed photo release for pictures of/with residents. Therefore no pictures of resident's faces are allowed on The Holiday Project visits. The best way to take a picture is taking the back of the resident and the faces of the volunteers. The experience can still be documented in a picture without the resident's face.
8. It is not required but volunteers can make handmade Christmas cards to pass out during the visit.

The Nature Discovery Center is launching an exciting new phase of our Enchanted Woods Capital Campaign, and we are looking for dedicated volunteers to help with door-to-door fundraising in Bellaire, TX.

Going door to door is one of the most effective ways to connect with our community, share the vision of Enchanted Woods, and invite neighbors to be part of something truly special. These personal conversations help ensure that children and families in the Houston area will enjoy a magical, nature-based space for generations to come.

What volunteers will do:

Visit homes in Bellaire to share information about the Enchanted Woods project

Invite neighbors to support the campaign through donations

Represent the Nature Discovery Center with enthusiasm and professionalism

Work in pairs and during scheduled times for safety and support

No prior fundraising experience is required and training, materials, and talking points will be provided. Whether you can help for a single shift or multiple days, your time will make a meaningful impact.

If you enjoy meeting people and care about nature, education, and our community, this is a wonderful way to get involved.

Registration & Welcome Packing – Your task will be to work alongside a team to fill conference registration swag bags before the conference registration tables open. Conference bag items may include pamphlets, maps, pens, notebooks, and other promo items. You may also be tasked with packaging name badges/lanyards. Training and support will be provided.

Serving the registration area requires business casual attire, and HBCU paraphernalia is welcomed.

NAC Workshop Facilitator – Your task will be to welcome our registered guests to our workshop, take an accurate count of participants, and answer any questions that our guest speaker may have. Our staff will be on standby if you need any help. You may be required to utilize your personal cellular device to aid with accurately counting the participants.

Please be sure to bring any phone chargers needed. Business casual attire strongly suggested, HBCU paraphernalia encouraged.

NAC/NPAC Workshop Facilitator – Your task will be to welcome our registered guests to our workshop, take an accurate count of participants, and answer any questions that our guest speaker(s) may have. Our staff will be on standby if you need any help. You will also provide each student attendee with a color-coded sticker upon completion of the station. The color-coded stickers will serve as entry into a drawing for a chance to receive a gift card.

Serving this need requires business casual attire, and HBCU paraphernalia is welcomed.

Our Coronation event is a pageant where we celebrate the uniqueness and beauty of our campus queens. The event culminates with the crowning of Miss UNCF. Your task at this event will be to assist our staff with any setup that the room requires, helping queens and kings prepare for the show, manning our ballroom doors and greeting people as they enter the show.

Your task will be to welcome guests into the dining area and accurately count each attendee. This may require the use of your personal, cellular device.

Come play with kids while parents learn life skills

Invest yourself in building relationships with children and help spark their imagination through music, learning activities, play, and creative art activities. Activities are planned and directed by the classroom teacher. (Available times: 8 - 11 am and 3 - 5 pm)

Spend one-on-one time with a child who requires individualized help or attention. Invest in the Prayer, Affirmation, and Love of one specific child. Curriculum and activities will be provided. (Available times: 8 - 11 am and 3 - 5 pm)

Spend time visiting with a group of 2 to 3 children, reading and doing interactive education kits. (Available times: 8 - 11 am and 3 - 5 pm)

Provide general assistance at the centers. This may include: developing and organizing supplies and materials, prepping gifts for teachers and mothers, assisting at any of the above events, helping at graduation, data input, cutting, laminating, printing, filing, snack prep, bulletin board prep, building classroom furniture, cleaning classroom rugs, and other general activities. (Available times: 8 - 5 pm)

Provide support to teachers during lunch and nap time transitions. Volunteers will assist in cleaning up after lunch, sweeping the classroom, wiping down tables, disposing of trash, helping children wash their hands and change their clothes, and patting the children to sleep. (Available times: 11 am to 1 pm)

Garden Maintenance: If you have a passion for gardening and working with children, we would love your help with our garden maintenance! We currently have two gardens that need regular management. This volunteer opportunity will involve gardening with children.

Landscaping: Help beautify our outdoor spaces to create a welcoming environment for everyone. Please be advised that closed-toed shoes and clothing that you don't mind getting a little dirty is a must. This opportunity does not involve working with children.
