Keegan Kitchen volunteers assist with meal prep and packaging of hot meals for daily distribution to community locations where children gather after school.

Assist clients with shopping for grocery items of their choosing in the Isle Market Food Pantry.

Food Pantry Assistants help clients with bagging food items as well as make sure clients are choosing items appropriate for their family size. Volunteer Assistants may also offer suggestions on how to cook food. 

Some Food Pantry Assistants may also assist clients in loading groceries into their cars.

We are specifically looking for volunteers with cheerful attitudes and a friendly demeanor when interacting with clients.

We are in need of volunteers on a regular basis.

Everyone is welcome to participate in Shamba Days. You’ll help with whatever the farm may need... mulching, weeding, planting, harvesting, and more!

Shamba Ya Amani, the Farm of Peace, is working for justice by feeding our community, both body and soul. We feed the body by growing vegetables and fruit, raising honeybees, and tending flowers. We feed the soul by building this farm together, forming a connection to each other and to the earth we are cultivating.

Wesley's Food Pantry needs volunteers for our drive-up food pantry to help our Houston neighbors who are in desperate need of food.

Volunteer Sewing Instructor

We are looking for people to come out and hide for search dogs while they are training. These people need to be willing to come out for at least a few hours and be willing to run, walk, and hide from the dogs in all different types of scenarios. When found by the dog, they should also be willing to play with the dog per the handler's instructions or offer the dog it's treat reward. It is a lot of fun and a unique experience to help these dogs out!

You'll be provided with a location to walk to in order to "hide" from the canines. The canines will then come find the missing person. Of course, you will never actually be missing, but we always need new people to pretend to be missing. We will be enjoying nature, so dress appropriately with closed-toed shoes and comfortable pants. Be sure to bring water, sunscreen, bug spray and maybe a good book or electronic device to keep you busy during the down time. As a Wrap-Up Volunteer, you will help GBF staff clean the event area, organize and pack materials, and ensure the site is left better than we found it.

By ensuring a smooth and organized start to the event, you directly expand our ability to clean up more waste and increase the impact Trash Bash® has on the health of Galveston Bay.

Help Native Plants Find New Homes

Every spring, Galveston Bay Foundation hosts a community native plant sale to help residents bring more habitat into their own backyards and neighborhoods. This year we will be concurrently hosting a Rain Barrel Workshop for those interested in learning about water conservation for the Bay.

As an Event Support Volunteer, you’ll help maintain plant organization, restock inventory as needed, and provide support to staff and customers throughout the event.

By helping us prepare plants for sale, you make it easier for residents to choose native species that benefit pollinators, birds, and the greater Galveston Bay watershed.

This is a physically active volunteer role involving light lifting and organizing. Restrooms are available onsite. Refreshments and snacks will be provided.

Please check in with GBF staff inside the BBQ shed upon arrival. You will receive a quick orientation and task overview before setup begins.

Parking & Where to Meet
We will meet at Walter Hall Park at the BBQ Shed adjacent to the Community Center. When entering the park, continue to go straight and park in the first parking lot. You will see a GBF truck and trailer in the next lot over. Give yourself enough time to park and use the restroom so you are ready to help at the start of your shift.

WHAM Homeless Walk-Up Distribution volunteers work at our Walk-up tent every Monday from 7:30am - 10:30am

Tasks include:

Registration & Welcome Packing – Your task will be to work alongside a team to fill conference registration swag bags before the conference registration tables open. Conference bag items may include pamphlets, maps, pens, notebooks, and other promo items. You may also be tasked with packaging name badges/lanyards. Training and support will be provided.

Serving the registration area requires business casual attire, and HBCU paraphernalia is welcomed.

NAC Workshop Facilitator – Your task will be to welcome our registered guests to our workshop, take an accurate count of participants, and answer any questions that our guest speaker may have. Our staff will be on standby if you need any help. You may be required to utilize your personal cellular device to aid with accurately counting the participants.

Please be sure to bring any phone chargers needed. Business casual attire strongly suggested, HBCU paraphernalia encouraged.

NAC/NPAC Workshop Facilitator – Your task will be to welcome our registered guests to our workshop, take an accurate count of participants, and answer any questions that our guest speaker(s) may have. Our staff will be on standby if you need any help. You will also provide each student attendee with a color-coded sticker upon completion of the station. The color-coded stickers will serve as entry into a drawing for a chance to receive a gift card.

Serving this need requires business casual attire, and HBCU paraphernalia is welcomed.

Your task will be to welcome guests into the dining area and accurately count each attendee. This may require the use of your personal, cellular device.

Adult Services offers recreational opportunities to older adults/seniors and younger adults with disabilities through bi-weekly meetings, bowling, field trips, education, self-advocacy, skills training and touch based technology training. Participants do all kinds of activities including adapted self defense, yoga, and strength training, scrap-booking, volunteer projects, technology classes, and go on various trips around Houston. As a volunteer you would help clients participate in all of these activities and socialize with clients.

Our mentoring program is designed to support the growth of our students on the fields, in school, and in life. Mentors are matched with a SpringSpirit participant in grades 3-12 and commit to meet in person at least once a month.  Mentors must submit to a background check and go through an orientation process before being matched with a mentee.  2 locations in Northern Spring Branch.

Volunteers needed to work with elementary-age children once or twice a week on Zoom.  Program moderator creates virtual breakout rooms.  Volunteers work with small groups (2-4 students) from 4:30 to 5:30 one day a week. In this role, you will retrieve, transport, and deliver blood samples from area crossmatch facilities to our headquarters located behind NRG Stadium, using a company vehicle. All volunteer drivers will go through a volunteer orientation, background check, drug screen, road test and complete defensive driving training provided by The Blood Center to ensure the safety of the volunteers as well as the products. Volunteer drivers are asked to commit to 2-4 driving shifts per months with a four hour per shift minimum. Volunteer drivers will receive materials about the program and its policies, essential contact information, a T-shirt, and a personalized volunteer badge. Their shift will begin at the Hospital Services department, where they will sign in and receive their vehicle and route assignments.

As patients and family members we are so busy taking care of our patients - or ourselves in this period of COVID-19. In order to promote our work on our 2021 Virtual March for Marrow, which will include a Virtual 5K Run and Walk as well as an online raffle, we need a clever and committed Social Media Guru.

We have a lot to learn and would love to learn from younger, smarter and more clever young people from the Houston area.

In addition, we are trying to go paperless – although we do have a great flier featuring our 2021 Star, Nicholas Smith, who just went through a bone marrow transplant. We are open to advice as to how best to use it. But it seems social media is the best way to go.

Our 2021 VIRTUAL March for Marrow 5K Run & Walk will run for 7 days from Saturday, March 27 to Saturday, April 3, 2021.

Our schedule for Saturday, 3/27/2021, Sunday, 3/28/2021, and Saturday, 4/3/2021, will run for about 2 hours, 9:00 am to 10:30 or 11:00 am.

Monday, 3/29/2021 to Friday, 4/2/2021, will only be 1 hour – perhaps 1 ½ hours.

There will be the Kick-Off including sounding the start of the 5k and Patient and Family Walk – complete with selfies. We will have a couple of doctors speak and a couple of patients telling their stories.  We hope to attract a couple of high school groups – bands and or a cheerleading squad – all with proper social distancing.

On Saturday, April 3, we will hold our Moment of Remembrance and Closing Ceremonies, catch up with our 5K Runners and have them log in their times and announce our Top Fundraisers and our Raffle WINNERS!

The Adopt-A-Trail program is an opportunity for conservation-minded groups of all sizes and types to sponsor a section of Jones Park’s extensive trail system by controlling invasive non-native plants and conducting routine trail maintenance. ANY group can help! For example, scouts, schools, church groups, home-school groups, conservation organizations, companies in need of volunteer hours for their employees, etc. There is no maximum or minimum size group.

Groups will be assigned a section of Jones Park’s trail system, based on the size and ability of the group. Each group will be asked to commit to conducting one-half workday (about 4 hours) every three months to remove any invasive plants. Sponsoring groups will be asked to commit to maintaining a section of trail for a minimum of one year.

No experience is necessary. Your first workday begins with a short training session in invasive plant identification and removal methods.

In addition to receiving a custom laser-etched sign designating your section of adopted trail, each group will be helping Jones Park remain in a natural and native state. Not only will future visitors to the park benefit from your efforts, the native wildlife will benefit from the removal of invasive plant species.

The Day of Service program is an opportunity for conservation-minded groups of all sizes and types to earn volunteer hours while directly assisting Jones Park in serving our community in the areas of environmental and Texas education.

Any group can help, including: scouts, schools, church groups, home-school groups, conservation organizations, companies in need of volunteer hours for their employees, etc. There is no maximum or minimum size group.  Children 16 and under are welcome to volunteer as long as a parent or adult leader volunteers alongside them.

We will schedule your program on the day that fits your needs. Groups will be assigned a priority project in Jones Park based on their interests, group size, and abilities. A wide range of service projects are needed, including historical building construction, trail maintenance, habitat restoration, and litter collection.

No experience is necessary. A park ranger will provide training and guidance.

The majority of iEducate´s college students are not studying to become teachers and are planning on entering a variety of different careers after they graduate. But while they are in college, they are giving back to the community by helping to close achievement gaps and inspire 3rd – 5th grade students in underserved schools.

To help these students, many of whom are first-generation college students, iEducate is looking for 20 career mentors to help them navigate their industry, lean more about skills needed in their profession, and advise them as needed to help them be successful.  

To facilitate the mentorship, iEducate will be hosting an event in March to match our students with career mentors on specific career paths.  During this reception, you and the college students will have a chance to chat to see if there is a good connection and then develop the mentor/mentee relationship after that. CrossWalk Center needs a volunteer or a team of volunteers to help prepare a daily hot meal for the residents of our halfway houses. We are blessed to receive food donations each week, and with the help of volunteer house chefs, we can make the most of those gifts. The 24 men living at our halfway houses are just beginning their transition back into society after incarceration. As they are adjusting to their new job, new home, new friends, and new lives, preparing a hot, healthy meal can become a priority that slips through the cracks.

Our house chefs bless our residents with a home-cooked meal each day after work. It is our hope that individuals or teams could come into our halfway houses and prepare a meal from the donations we have already received. We don't require any professional experience, we just need willing hands and a servant's heart. Our homes are equipped with fully stocked residential kitchens, so you won't need to use your own cookware. For your convenience, volunteers can come during the day to prepare the food, leaving it in the warmer or the fridge until dinner, or come on the weekends, meal prep in bulk, and leave individual containers in the freezer.

All gardeners and amateur gardeners welcome! Wesley Community Center is home to the Lorraine Street Gardening Club. The land surrounding our Food Pantry is equipment with 14 garden beds and is also home to a hive of bees to help with pollination. 

We take a central planning approach and garden all plots together, maximizing the plots for the gardeners' benefit and the clients of the pantry. Because of this, we ask that you meet with our lead garden volunteer before beginning planting.

The garden is unique in that half of what we harvest goes to the food pantry to fill the grocery carts of those less fortunate in our community. The other half is split among the gardeners. The garden is open anytime the food pantry is open (9-3 T - S) and maintains a socially distanced garden get together on Saturdays. 

Non-profit group in need of an Information Technology person on an occasional basis to address technical issues as they arise and provide appropriate solutions for staff members.

Past IT experience with Windows 10 and QuickBooks is preferred

Friends of Down Syndrome is a non-profit whose mission is to provide lifelong learning for our students with Down Syndrome through education, socialization and community outreach.

Our school is moving, we need volunteers to help pack, load and unpack.   April 25, 26 and 27 from 9AM-4PM.  If you have a truck or van please bring it. Thank you for your help.

The Czech Center Museum offers internship programs in a variety of fields encompassing business and public administration, history, and art. Gain invaluable experience learning the in and outs of helping run a non-profit organization. Some of our current interns help run our social media channels, translate history and art materials, catalog and help preserve art.
