We at Encompass are looking for compassionate, patient, loving volunteers to spend time with our patients. They need and want someone to share their final days with and we want people with a nurturing nature to give them that most basic of needs, human contact. You would spend time with the patients talking, listening, playing games or anything the patient would want or possibly need.

Our offices are in Clear Lake and the Woodlands area but we have patients all over the Greater Houston Area and Woodlands. The training would be done in our Houston office but the opportunity would be in the Pearland Area.

Due to the nature of the patients’ conditions each volunteer will be required to go through required training to volunteer with our patients. The process to become a volunteer takes a little bit but the rewards of giving your time to these patients is beyond measurable. Children 4 Tomorrow is needing needing snacks and coffee for parenting classes and  snacks for Youth Group Therapy Classes.  

This can be in either in a form of a gift card to a grocery store or Sam's Wholesale or Costco OR the snacks and coffee themselves.  The organization has 2 Keurig Coffee Makers so the coffee needs to be the coffee pods.  

Children 4 Tomorrow has transition to virtual therapy for youth due to the pandemic.  We are in need of computers (laptops) for these youth in order  to participate in the therapy. 

The needs for our nonprofit organization are tremendous.  Our underserved communities are struggling to cope with the anxiety, depression, trauma and hopelessness that cause mental and physical illnesses. Its effect has been amplified due to the long duration of the pandemic quarantine in which none of us expected or planned for, and has caused havoc on the entire world.  Statistics now show that the issue of PTSD and trauma are on the rise in communities similar to ours due to the pandemic.

The program provides a virtual evidence-based protocol that provides mental health services in disaster aftermath crisis (such as trauma) and has fulfilled the mental health population’s needs since 2007.  

For some of these kids to participate in the program they need a laptop computer for the 2 week 6 session duration.  We will be able to loan out computer before the sessions and pick them up when the sessions are completed and move to another group of youth.

Volunteers are literally, the heart of Harbor Hospice, providing a special kind of caring and compassion for our patients and their families. Every day our volunteers make a difference in the lives of so many people. Whether they offer a listening ear to patients and families, provide grief support, serve as a companion to loved ones, or share their personal expertise to help promote hospice care, the time give to Harbor Hospice families by our volunteers can be the most rewarding experiences of their lives.

iEducate is building a system for school districts to engage college and high school youth within the classroom in order to close achievement gaps at a foundational level. During the school year, we match college students with neighboring elementary schools, placing them alongside teachers to support differentiated instruction.

We have a team of current and former educators & HR professionals who conduct our screening and face-to-face interviews, and would love for you to join us! If you are available on Saturdays for a few hours between 10AM-4PM, you will be assigned candidates to interview and evaluate. We are a nonprofit based in Houston focused on stabilizing the episodic and transitional homeless. Since 2016, we have been connecting individuals and families with Houston's many resources, community organizations, and homeless service providers to ensure stability, security, and success for our clients. In the last year, we have observed rapid growth in clients, partners, and community support. Despite the abundance of resources available to the homeless, many still face a large number of obstacles and challenges that often make even basic survival impossible. At The Village Connect, we have developed creative and alternative strategies for solving common problems affecting the episodic homeless population in Houston. Our focus on advocacy, goal setting, and game planning has culminated in a new service model which provides pathways for stability for our clients. Get ready to make a difference this Halloween season with “Spook-A-Clean,” a fun and
frightfully important community cleanup event organized by SPLASh! On November 1, volunteers of all
ages will come together to clean Houston’s bayous, learn from local environmental organizations, and
participate in our costume swap!

Houston’s bayous are critical ecosystems, supporting a wide range of species and serving as vital
stopover points for migratory birds. However, these waterways often become polluted with trash and
debris, posing a serious threat to the wildlife that depend on them.

Our “Spook-A-Clean” event is
designed to tackle this issue head-on while bringing a festive, family-friendly atmosphere to
environmental action.

Volunteers will arrange a donation drive for items such as hygiene items, school supplies, small household items, or baby items. The goal of the drive is to create Welcome Kits for refugee families. We will provide you with a Welcome Kit List and Guide. We suggest gathering kits from one of the two options below.

1) Separate each category on the Welcome Kit List into separate containers of your choice. Ideas for containers include, but are not limited to: plastic bins, reusable grocery bags, or boxes.

2) Include all of the items on the Welcome Kit List into one container of your choice. Ideas for containers include, but are not limited to: plastic bins, reusable grocery bags, or boxes.

The average family size consists of five people, two adults and three children. We leave the option open for groups to decide which of the two are more convenient for your group in gathering the supplies.

Please note that due to the COVID-19, our office is currently closed. Staff members are currently working from home. Donations can be delivered directly to clients. Please contact the volunteer coordinator for more information at houston@rstx.org.

Volunteers will help with job readiness tasks including assisting clients with resume development, job application assistance, and mock interviews. We have basic resources for the workshop at the office.

The single largest need for volunteers. 

A home visitor is a volunteer who is matched with an adult who is blind or visually impaired and assists the person with everyday tasks that allow the person to maintain their independence (ex. grocery shopping, mail reading, bill paying, running errands). The blind adult lives in the specified area.

Commitment: 1 or 2 times a month.

Volunteer must have their own vehicle.

A year-long program (August 2021-June 2022) designed to equip college students who are passionate about the Gospel and empowering underprivileged youth through education.

We are looking for followers of Jesus who love soccer and are passionate about helping kids develop strong life skills and values. We provide free soccer practice at various local schools in Alief ISD Monday-Thursday 5:00-6:30pm. As a volunteer, you would be working with the head coach to follow the provided practice curriculum. The curriculum guides you through warm ups, soccer technique, drills, and activities. The unique thing about our program is that all of our soccer sessions are based around a Bible story and life value. We use soccer as a tool to instill valuable life lessons about character and personal development into the players. This is why we request that applicants be strongly committed to their Christian faith, because as a coach, you are also a role model. In this role, you’ll make phone calls to clients to share information about our free civics classes, which help prepare adults for the citizenship exam. Your calls help ensure more people can access the resources they need to succeed.

The A Serene Healthcare team serves Houston and surrounding areas with quality care & compassion. We provide excellent medical, psychosocial, spiritual, and volunteer support for those facing life-limiting illnesses and their families. We are a locally owned, quickly growing, and a, quality of life dedicated Hospice and Palliative Care company. We mainly recruit volunteers/interns to be companions for our hospice patients, but due to COVID-19 we have had to switch gears. The compassionate and dedicated team at A Serene Healthcare provides exceptional medical, psychosocial, spiritual, and volunteer support to individuals and families facing life-limiting illnesses in Houston and surrounding areas. As a locally owned Hospice and Palliative Care company, we are committed to enhancing the quality of life of our patients. Our volunteer program at A Serene Healthcare has had to adapt due to the COVID-19 pandemic. As such, we are currently seeking compassionate volunteers available during business hours (9 am to 5 pm) to assist our hospice office staff with tasks such as answering phones, inputting data, creating social media content, and additional clerical work. Volunteers skilled in filing papers and performing clerical tasks are especially needed and valued. This is an excellent opportunity to gain insight into the day-to-day operations of the hospice and palliative care industries.

CWS Houston is recruiting Volunteer Youth Mentors to support newcomer youth ages 15-24. Mentors will be responsible for facilitating once monthly group mentoring sessions with approximately 5 newcomer youth for a total of 6 months. Mentoring sessions are focused on social/emotional support, life skills, cultural orientation, financial literacy, and college or career readiness skills. Mentoring sessions also encourage peer support and social connection amongst group members.

Requirements: Volunteer Youth Mentors must be over the age of 25 years old and must be fluent in English. Prior experience working with newcomer youth is preferred but not required. CWS is prioritizing volunteers with lived experience as newcomers to the U.S.

Location: Mentoring sessions will take place either virtually or in-person depending on client needs and preference. Transportation assistance will be available to youth and mentors who participate in in-person mentoring.

Time Commitment: Mentors will be required to participate in approximately 8 hours of training prior to engaging in mentoring services. Onboarding: Mentors must submit to CWS’ volunteer background check process before they are cleared to begin services.

Training & Support: Mentors will receive training on mentoring session curriculum prior to facilitating mentoring sessions. Mentors will receive ongoing support, training, and guidance from CWS Staff.

Families to Freedom transports victims of abuse to a safe place far away. We need volunteers like YOU!

Assist victims fleeing from their abusers by driving them to safety! We ONLY allow our volunteers to pick-up survivors in a safe public place, usually in Houston. Volunteer safety is our #1 priority.

We get calls for service every day from survivors trying to start a new life, but without volunteer drivers we can only honor a few.

Position- Employment Mentor
Mentors are individuals that ease the transition to self-sufficiency by establishing a relationship with a refugee. A mentor’s goal is to assist a refugee in reaching self-sufficiency as quickly as possible through one-on-one guidance, advocacy, and individualized support. Through weekly visits, employment mentors will support refugees in realizing both short-term and long-term professional goals.

Join our Houston Volunteer Team! We are seeking translators/interpreters for the Guatamalen languages of the Mayan Dialects: Kaqchikel, Q'eqchi', or K'iche'. If you would like to translate, please come join us at a volunteer orientation!

Most translation opportunities are during business hours: Monday-Friday, 8:30am-4:30pm. Occasionally, we have opportunities on the weekend. As a volunteer, you don't have to be a permanent resident or citizen. 

We are also willing to pay you as a contractor. As a contractor, you must have legal status in the U.S.

There is a pre-developed curriculum of about 15 topics. The class is taught off a picture-based, pre-designed curriculum of 12-15 topics, ranging from health, hygiene, employment, public transportation, Houston culture, safety, education, community resources and cultural adjustment. Training will be provided. You don't have to speak another language in order to facilitate the classes. If needed, RST will provide a translator.

Languages are a plus! Volunteers are expected to serve about three months. We are flexible to work with your schedule.

RAMP is a career-focused program for youth with disabilities involved with or at-risk of becoming involved with the juvenile justice system. Volunteers will serve as support and mentors to the youth. Mentors are needed during and, once a relationship is established with youth, possibly after school if that works for both the youth and mentor. RAMP is under our HighSchool High Tech Program, a community-based partnership of parents, educators, rehabilitation professionals and business representatives working together to encourage high school students with disabilities to explore the fields of science, engineering and technology through mentoring, job skills, transition and internships for at-risk teens with disabilities. Includes campus meetings, company tours and internships.

Meetings are held weekly at area high schools and 2 meetings per month are required for mentors to attend. Meetings occur Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday and mentors may choose whatever day during the week works best for them to attend meetings. Mentors are NOT required to be at every meeting every day of the week. (You may decide to mentor with us on Tuesdays and would then try to make as many Tuesday meetings as possible.)

Meeting times are: Mondays: 2:30-3:30, Tuesdays 12:40-1:30 and Thursdays 10:35-11:25. Every youth is one caring adult away from becoming a success story. You can be that caring adult and make a difference. We hope to work with you soon as a mentor with the RAMP program.
