Our Mobile Outreach team members distribute snack packs as they meet individuals who are experiencing homelessness. Our case managers also distribute them. Easy-open protein items provide a great food source for our clients. Volunteers consult the list below and choose six or more of the items to package in Ziploc bags.  Clients often find it most helpful when snack packs contain a mix of no-chew (e.g. applesauce, pudding) and chewy items to accommodate all levels of dental health.  You are free to place an encouraging note in each pack!  Please don’t include last names, contact information, seasonal references, dates, or religious references.

As the largest Meals on Wheels provider in Texas, we serve close to 5,000 homebound seniors and disabled adults each day. We provide meals and more to ensure proper nutrition and social support for this vulnerable population.

In You Discover Math's (YDM's) first program, we provide 1-1 virtual math tutoring for free or by donation to any student in the US. The Client Intake Coordinator (CIC) hosts a 30-minute Welcome Session with each new student, to learn personally about the student's math learning situation and the ways the student learns most effectively. The CIC uses YDM's process & tools to translate these insights into a Tutoring Plan customized for each unique student. The ideal CIC volunteer would have prior experience as a tutor or other education role supporting the learning of students with diverse backgrounds. Schedule is flexible, but volunteers in this position must be in-control of their own schedule, able to communicate their availability dependably, and collaborate transparently using MS Teams. DESCRIPTION

Is a member of the Board.

Maintains records of the board and ensures effective management of organization's records.

Manages agendas and minutes of board meetings.

Ensures agendas are distributed beforehand and minutes are distributed to members shortly after each meeting.

Manages meeting action items and ensures follow up.

Assists with voting activities – to ensure voting procedures happen according to bylaws and are recorded accurately in the minutes for future reference.

Is sufficiently familiar with legal documents (articles, by-laws, IRS letters, etc.) to note applicability during meetings.

Bloom is leading adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) to a lifetime of community-driven health and wellness. One way we do this is through on-demand videos accessible to adults with IDD at their day habilitation center. Bloom recently filmed a new batch of highly-engaging fitness videos, and we need to get these loaded onto USB drives for dispersal. 

The volunteer that selects this position will meet with a Bloom staff member to pick up USB drives. Then, with access to our videos (stored on Vimeo), you will upload them to the correct USB drives. There are approximately 60 USB drives. 

While the work sounds inconsequential, it is of utmost importance to approximately 500 athletes across Greater Houston who are looking forward to using their new Bloom Box drives. 

Ranked Choice Voting for Texas is an all-volunteer organization advocating to make elections better, faster, and cheaper. We operate virtually and hold Technology Team meetings on Zoom. 1. The Volunteer Technology Mentor writes reports, tracks inventory, trains staff on new technologies, installs, operates, and manages computer network and administrative practices. 2. Most of our students will have zero to low technology proficiency, as a mentor, you will assist them in familiarizing themselves with modern technologies to facilitate their integration to the online learning system as well as becoming young professionals with computer literacy.

• Provide technical support related to both hardware and software.

• Identify and resolve technological issues in a timely manner.

Skills, Knowledge, and Other Requirements:

In addition to being an excellent communicator, you should have excellent multitasking and organizational abilities. The intern should approach each situation with positive and constructive energy, demonstrate great people skills, and carry a strong sense of patience, drive, curiosity, and innovation. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Drive, social media/web applications, and any experience with The Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Premiere, After Effects, and/or Illustrator) and printing processes are all considered a plus. The technology mentor must have a fully functional computer with clear video and audio particularly when communicating with students and team members.

The Business Development Manager will provide cross-cutting coordination and support for the development of EEGS program initiatives and business development. When released, our clients often face challenges becoming self-sufficient due to lack of skills necessary to obtain a job that pays a living wage. Volunteers are needed to help our organization gather information about which jobs our clients might consider (many have criminal records) that would allow them to become financially independent, along with which jobs have training that can be completed quickly, and any info on programs that would offer this training in a low or no-cost program.

We are seeking a volunteer to help with outreach to forensic science departments at colleges and universities. This remote role requires a commitment of at least 2 hours per week. Responsibilities include: 1) compiling a list of colleges and universities with forensic science programs using provided resources, 2) sending personalized emails to those contacts using a provided draft, and 3) responding to any inquiries, if needed.

As an ESL Tutor, you will have the important task of providing personalized instructions to students who are non-native English speakers in their homes or online.

About Us:

Texans Tutor Texans is a NEW nonprofit in Houston that is dedicated to creating accessible educational experiences that foster lifelong learning for public school students who are in need of academic support outside school hours. We offer one-on-one tutoring sessions and drop-in group sessions for general schoolwork assistance. We are looking for high school students who are interested in interning as tutors with us for school credit or volunteer hours.

Review contracts, MOUs, and partnership agreements

Advise on bylaws, board policies, and volunteer/HR agreements

Provide guidance on compliance and risk management

Assist with intellectual property protections (trademarks, copyrights)

Time Commitment:

StandOUT Youth has mentored over 100 teens since launching in 2021.

The Domestic Truth Foundation is seeking a passionate volunteer experienced in social media management and content creation to join our mission of supporting survivors of domestic and sexual violence.

Company Description
Young Homeowners League (YHL), a 501c3 nonprofit, promotes affordable homeownership through education and developing more starter homes.

We target base starter home as 4-bedroom, 1000 ft² and $150,000 cost.
We also arrange 50% ownership $75,000, and 25% ownership $40,000 with exclusive use of a bedroom.

Homeownership Planning Corps is a nonprofit coalition, led by YHL, dedicated to helping future homeowners plan early to work, save, and build strong credit so they can achieve homeownership while still young.

This is a part-time unpaid volunteer role for the Captain of Homeownership Planning Corps at a place of work and is supported in the Houston, TX area. The Captain will be responsible for leading and coordinating homeownership planning advocating programs at the community.
1. Start a Homeownership Planning Corps club or group at your place of work, with permission or support from the management or HR.
2. Attract more co-workers to join.
3. Assist each non-homeowner member to create a homeownership plan and update it at least once a year until becoming homeowner.
4. Arrange discussions, workshops, and events. YHL can provide speakers. Contact YHL if need help.
5. Coordinate members who like to buy land together (to reduce cost) or buy homes in the same area, or co-buy homes.
6. Produce social media material for sharing experiences.
