This garden started in 1989 is situated on two acres and located in Kashmere Gardens. It features a wash station, a composting facility, and 100 beds that last year provided over 9,000 pounds of organically grown produce to the community. The large garden gives volunteers and clients the opportunity to grow nutritious organic produce to benefit themselves, their neighbors, and Target Hunger food pantries. All of the produce will be distributed to families in need of food assistance.

Volunteers are needed to help our garden continue to grow! 

Both individuals and teams who volunteer in the gardens may assist in many ways such as: building garden beds, turning soil, weeding, planting, watering, harvesting, maintenance, and special projects. We schedule volunteers Tuesday through Friday from 9am to noon. *No weekend opportunities.

Every day, we hear more worrisome news about the COVID-19 pandemic. Target Hunger is proud to assist our registered families and seniors during this trying time. Volunteers are requested to arrive on site before 9am. They will be assigned to a task such as packing produce in individual distribution bags and/or placing food in car trunks.

Cornerstone Family Resource Center in partnership with The Pointe at Crestmont is sponsoring summer food distribution for children and teens residing in their community.  The Pointe at Crestmont is a low-income, tax credit community that provides reduced rent and social service supports for its residents.   During the summer months children and teens often go without the essential food that they received at school.  We are looking for volunteer groups to conduct food drives of essential items and distribute the food to the residents during the summer months (June, July, August).  The distributions are schedule for the 1st and 3rd Saturday each month however additional days may be added.  Groups may choose one or more days to volunteers.

This volunteer opportunity is critical to the pantry as it maintains the shopping area to provide a clean and organized space for the clients to shop.  The purpose of this role is to ensure and sustain adquate inventory levels in the pantry.  Duties include sorting donations, stocking shelves, replenishing coolers/freezers, produce and bread tables, repacking donations, and keeping a clean pantry during pantry hours.

Bilingual Spanish speaking volunteers needed for Parkway Fellowship North Community Food Fair.  Held the second Saturday of each month.  This volunteer position will be checking in cars that will be receiving food.  You will need to have cell phone app experience, and enjoy talking with people.

We are looking for individuals or a small group to help with a sorting and organizing project at our Family Place housing facility in the Spring Branch area. This facility has several onsite food pantries where we store non-perishable food items, toiletries, and other basic needs items for our clients. We have been fortunate to receive a lot of donations recently and need some help sorting, organizing, and “spring cleaning” these pantries so that we can better serve our families!

Flexible shifts are available Monday through Friday. Great for a one-time or short-term opportunity!

Brighter Bites is a nonprofit that creates communities of health through fresh food with the goal of changing behavior among children and their families to prevent obesity and achieve long-term health. It is an evidence-based, multi-component elementary school, preschool, and summer camp program that utilizes reliable access to fruits and vegetables, nutrition education, and consistent exposure to recipes and messages that feature fresh food. Since 2012, Brighter Bites has provided nearly 40 million pounds of produce and millions of nutrition education materials to more than 475,000 individuals.  

During a Brighter Bites Boxing Project shift, volunteers will help build produce orders for Brighter Bites schools at the Houston Food Bank. This includes sorting and boxing produce, then stacking the completed boxes of produce onto pallets. The Community Resource Center provides a minimal to no contact distribution opportunity through curbside pick-up to community members. Individuals have the opportunity to select an appointment time and items that best fit their household needs. Volunteers will assist with delivering custom curbside orders to participants' vehicles.  

HFB's Senior Box Home Delivery Program currently serves over 750 homebound seniors through a Federal CSFP Program that we refer to as Senior Box which includes a monthly home delivery of a shelf stable food box and a block of cheese.

Over 50 routes consisting of 10 stops each have been developed to keep delivery times around 2 hours per route. Routes are located conveniently in and around Harris County enabling drivers to choose a route near you. We are recruiting volunteers that are willing to provide this service once a month to 10 seniors for at least 3 consecutive months.

Food for Change (FFC) Markets are brick-and-mortar and mobile pantries located throughout the Houston area that distribute produce and other healthy items twice per month to qualifying FFC clients.  All FFC Markets are designed to be client choice, which allows clients to meet their personal needs and preferences while reinforcing dignity and reducing food waste.

REGISTRATION DETAILS:

We need your help, delivering delivering lunch meals and brief, friendly visit to homebound seniors, throughout Galveston County, including both mainland and the island. We have needs in areas, including Bolivar Peninsula, Bacliff, Santa Fe, Texas City, Dickinson, San Leon, League City, La Marque and Friendswood. We are also looking for additional Hubs/Sites, so please let us know if your faith community, business, civic group, etc. is open to learning about what it means to be a Meals on Wheels Site. :-) 

Responding to this need will register you, as an individual, for becoming a Meals on Wheels Delivery Volunteer. After completion of your New Volunteer Training, we can share with you where we most need volunteer support and you can choose your delivery area, from those needs. All of the seniors on any MOW route live close to one another and a volunteer route typically delivers to 12-15 homes, between 10:00 AM and 12 noon, on your assigned weekday. Our MOW Galveston County Program utilizes volunteer delivery support Monday-Thursday, weekly. Delivering should take approximately 90 minutes, including loading your car and delivery time. It's a great way to spend your lunch break! 

How do I sign up? Two steps: 

Kiddos are welcome to tag along on meal deliveries, but do not need to register. The Driver must be 18 years of age or older. You are invited to bring along a Delivery Buddy, so long as all adults in the vehicle complete their volunteer registration and training. 

The Family Hope Center is a child-centered, family-focused place where families go to find hope, support and empowerment in their community to reach their fullest God-given potential. The key to the Family Hope Center's success is found in combining effective programs and passionate people to help families that are experiencing poverty, family issues and a lack of services.

A part of our Aldine Family Hope Center is a twice a week food pantry (Tuesday and Thursday). At this time the pantry is open to anyone that is in need. As a volunteer you will be helping to stock the pantry, fill the donation boxes, and meet with the families. There will always be a staff member present as well.

Wonderful opportunity to assist Senior Citizens from the City of Houston and surrounding areas. Young Society of Houston organization is looking for volunteers to assist Senior citizens by picking up and delivering food  to their homes. Must have own transportation vehicle.  Pick up and drop off will be based on volunteers availability. Seeds of the Soil (SOTS) is a food insecurity program of Black United Fund of Texas, operating the Oasis Garden at 2609 Quitman, Houston,TX77026, parking is at 2409 Davis St. The Oasis Garden was started in 2018 and served the local neighborhood. We are looking for volunteers to come work with us every Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 10AM-2:30PM. Volunteers will be performing physical activities and if you're interested in learning about home gardening, eating fresh local vegetables and supporting a community based farm in a large food desert.

Are you an early bird?  If you have been looking for volunteer opportunities but don't have a lot of time to give - this may be a great way for you to contribute!

We are looking for volunteers to pick up food donations from neighborhood grocery stores weekly on a designated Monday or Thursday and deliver the food to our Community Food Pantry between 9:00 am - 9:30 am.  All pick up locations are within the CFISD area.  As a volunteer Food Donation Driver, you will be helping Cy-Fair Helping Hands accomplish their mission of bringing hope to the homeless and hungry by ensuring our Community Food Pantry is stocked with nutritional food to provide to seniors and low-income families.  Subs are also needed for occasional grocery and Red Barrel donation pick-ups.

A large vehicle (e.g., pick-up truck, van or SUV), Driver's License and Car Insurance are required.  Must be able to lift heavy boxes of meat and produce and load them into your vehicle.

Ever wonder where those Red Barrel donations go – they go to your local food pantry!

Volunteers are needed to pick up Red Barrel food donations from two nearby grocery stores in the Cypress area and deliver donations to the Cy-Fair Helping Hands Community Food Pantry at 9204 Emmott Road on a Monday or Thursday morning between the hours of 9:00 am – 12:30 pm. Volunteers must be over 18, have a large vehicle (e.g., pick-up truck, van or SUV) and car insurance. This is a relatively flexible position that doesn’t require a lot of time commitment yet contributes significantly to our mission to bring hope to the homeless and hungry!

Enjoy working with people, have good computer/data skills and bilingual in English and Spanish? We need you!  

Volunteers are needed to register new and returning clients, validate eligibility, inform clients of upcoming events and run reports. Volunteers should be able to commit to a Monday, Thursday morning on a weekly basis and/or a 1st or 3rd Saturday morning on a monthly basis.  Shift hours are 9:00 am - 1:00 pm.  Long term considerations only, please.

A Board Member experienced in management of charitable organization.  Ability in public speaking and promoting activities.  Fund raising experience a plus.

Target Hunger had to close many of its brick-and-mortar pantries due to COVID-19. We began delivering prepackaged boxes of food to our client's homes, in partnership with Door Dash. This partnership with Door Dash is coming to an end so we are trying to switch our clients over to our mobile pantries. Staff has expressed the need of volunteers specifically on Tuesdays usually from 9am to 11am. Volunteers in the pantry will help pantry staff guide client's shopping, the restocking of the mobile pantry, and assist clients to their cars. Bilingual preferred. Prefer a reoccurring volunteer.

Come and volunteer at the Target Hunger Food Pantry on Senior Pantry Day!

Volunteers will assist with checking in clients, clients while they shop, keep the shelves stocked, and properly weigh client's groceries. Our pantry staff needs assistance on the first and third Tuesday from 8 am - 12 pm at the Denver Harbor Multi-Service Center Target Hunger food pantry. A reoccurring volunteer is preferred. Bilingual in Spanish is also preferred, but not necessary.

Help is needed each week process applications for new clients each Wednesday.  Shifts are available from 10am-12pm and 12pm-2pm.  Work is indoors, seated.  Registration involves entering application data into computer program and speaking with the clients about their needs.  Come help us each week as we assist families needing food assistance in the NW Houston area.  Volunteer once a month or more.

We distribute food in a curbside format every Thursday afternoon for senior clients.  Help is needed to gather the food and deliver to their cars.  You can volunteer for shifts from 10am-12pm, 12pm-2pm, or both.

Join HUGGS Inc. every Tuesday from 10AM to 1PM for our Food Distribution Program

Join us to provide bilingual help to check in families to receive food.  Food distribution takes place on Thursday evenings between 4:30pm and 7:00pm.  You may volunteer weekly or 1-2 times per month, however an ongoing monthly commitment is requested.

Cypress Assistance Ministries (CAM) is partnering with some area grocery stores to help provide food for our food pantry. We just need some helpful individuals to pick up the donations from these retailers and help deliver them to CAM's facility.

Programs like this are wonderful resources for CAM, as they help us source items that would be otherwise difficult to source (such as bakery items and produce), and they help reduce food waste in our community.

Volunteers must have access to a vehicle suitable for transporting food items (an SUV or minivan would work perfectly, a sedan with sufficient trunk space would work as well). We will provide insulated bags.

We need weekly drivers for Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. You may choose to volunteer for one, two, or all three of these pick-ups.

A Point of Distribution (POD) Volunteer helps give out important supplies like food and water during emergencies. They work at special locations and have important jobs like keeping the line organized, handing out supplies the right way, checking how much is left, and keeping records. They also answer questions from people and help set up and take down the site during emergencies.

Greet homeless guests, gather essential details, check eligibility for services, and answer phones. Shift: 8:45 am to 12:00 pm

Join us at Paul Revere Middle School to help grow, maintain, and harvest fresh vegetables from our thriving community garden. Located right on campus, this garden provides nutritious produce to supplement food distributed to families through a bi-monthly food distribution program. No gardening experience is required—just a willing heart and a pair of helping hands! This opportunity is flexible, with both weekday and weekend times available. All are welcome to be part of this life-giving project that strengthens our community.

Assist in prepping and distributing groceries to families in need. This may include stocking the food pantry, sorting donated items for quality and bagging groceries for individual families, as well as helping families get groceries into their cars. Volunteers may also assist clients to fill out required information for the Houston Food Bank.

The food pantry hosts clients on Wednesdays and Thursdays.

Position Overview: The Marketing Administrative Assistant Intern will support the marketing team by handling various administrative tasks, assisting with marketing campaigns, and ensuring smooth operations within the department.

Position Overview: We are seeking a dedicated Horticulture Intern to assist with the management and maintenance of our urban food garden. The intern will gain hands-on experience in urban agriculture, focusing on sustainable practices and community engagement.

Assist clients with shopping for grocery items of their choosing in the Isle Market Food Pantry.

Food Pantry Assistants help clients with bagging food items as well as make sure clients are choosing items appropriate for their family size. Volunteer Assistants may also offer suggestions on how to cook food. 

Some Food Pantry Assistants may also assist clients in loading groceries into their cars.

We are specifically looking for volunteers with cheerful attitudes and a friendly demeanor when interacting with clients.

We are in need of volunteers on a regular basis.
