BPSOS-Houston needs volunteers to help us with our caseload.

We can provide you with volunteer hour documentation on request and help you gain experience working in a non-profit that provides social and legal services to immigrants and naturalized citizens.

Our office hours are from 9 am to 5:30 pm on weekdays and we can work with your schedule! We're also open on some weekends. 

Criteria:

- College students and High School juniors and seniors

- Must be honest, responsible, and trustworthy with the ability to keep confidentiality

- Fill out the attached volunteer application and email or bring it with you when contacted

- Must interview

- No criminal record (may be subject to a background check)

Duties will include, among other things:

Making physical folders for client files Ensuring completeness of physical client files (include: intake sheet, case notes, retainer agreement (if applicable) Updating files Ensure accuracy in placement of files in filing cabinets Shredding files Scanning intake sheets Other tasks as assigned

Clerical work with data entry.   In the senior program, the responsibilities include completing tasks assigned, and a willingness to learn and work as part of a team.   At the ACA program, the responsibilities include client follow-up phone calls, basic computer skills, and data entry.
