There is free training to help you become a skilled operator in several different ways and a number of trainings are available virtually if that is more convenient for your schedule.

Team Rubicon normally provides disaster recovery services. During this COVID-19 pandemic we are also helping in other ways. Please join us as a non-member volunteer.  Perhaps you will decide to join Team Rubicon after working with us for a while.

One operation we are on is as follows, but there are others:

We need help each week day beginning Monday 4/13 loading medical equipment into boxes for transport from the Medical Bridges facility. The address is 2706 Magnet St., Houston, TX 77054. The operation and need for volunteers will end when the facility no longer needs help from Team Rubicon and its volunteers.

If you can help, please arrive at the facility and park in the designated area before 8:00 am. Go inside, tell them you are a Team Rubicon Spontaneous Volunteer, and ask for the Team Rubicon liaison person. Discuss with the Team Rubicon liaison person your availability to work there. Plan to work until 5:00 pm if you can. Water, snacks and meals, as well as personal protective equipment as needed will be provided.

Help Team Rubicon as we respond to the COVID-19 pandemic in a constantly changing variety of ways to address community needs across the Greater Houston area. Appropriate Personal Protective Equipment is provided to all volunteers, as are meals during work periods. To learn what we are currently doing and preparing for, where those events are occurring, and to find out about becoming a member, contact Bob Stevenson by email to Robert.Stevenson@teamrubiconusa.org. To meet our need for numerous COVID-related volunteers, we have temporarily dropped some of the normal training that new members take.

Help the Galveston County Food Bank prepare food for distribution to the needy. Team Rubicon volunteer members will supervise other spontaneous volunteers. Please arrive before 8:00 am and ask for the Team Rubicon Point of Contact. Discuss with him or her your availability. Work will be done standing at a social distance. The organization will provide PPE. Meals and drinks will be provided.

Team Rubicon provides a variety of support for individuals, organizations and communities when they need help. This help may be requested at any time during the year - even during hurricane season. In some cases, like earlier in 2020 and probably again soon, the help needed is for food banks in Houston and Texas City to help with distribution of food for the needy. 

Currently, during this COVID-19 pandemic, Team Rubicon is not accepting offers to help from spontaneous volunteers. We are only using members of Team Rubicon to provide help. Joining is free!

Everyone in Team Rubicon requires a cleared background check and they must have health insurance. Once signed-up watch for opportunities to help that get announced via email and text, and they are always put on Team Rubicon's internal website called Roll Call first.

A 74 year old veteran with diabetes and only one leg uses a wheelchair. He needs someone who lives in the Gulfgate area to help him by pushing the cart in the grocery store while he selects what he wants to buy. Then the helper is needed to get the bags into the vehicle and then into the vet's home. This is a recurring need with frequency TBD.
