Needs From: Volunteer Houston

Volunteer: Shamba Ya Amani Farm Work Day

Everyone is welcome to participate in Farm Work Days. During these times, you’ll help with whatever the farm may need that day.

Shamba Ya Amani, the Farm of Peace, is working for justice by feeding our community, both body and soul. We feed the body by growing vegetables and fruit, raising honeybees, and tending flowers. We feed the soul by building this farm together, forming a connection to each other and to the earth we are cultivating.

Bring a bottle of water and wear long pants and closed-toe shoes or boots!

Shamba Ya Amani Farm can be found at this address:

Volunteer: Shovels needed at Shamba Ya Amani

Although our favorite cultivating tool at Shamba Ya Amani is a sturdy hoe called a jembe, we are in serious need of shovels right now!

If you have any shovels in good condition, consider dropping them off at the farm–8401 Dairy View Lane. You can lean donated shovels against our colorful tool shed (seen here: farm stewards Roda and Constancia standing by the shed with tools in hand).

Or come on a Saturday morning when we can greet you during our weekly community work day! You can find our weekly volunteer shifts on Volunteer Houston!
