Volunteer: Relatable Role Model Letters!Girls are looking for meaningful ways to connect now more than ever, and that’s where you come in! For girls in grades 3-12, we want to include an inspiring element of connection in our Spark Kits - Relatable Role Model Letters. So what are Relatable Role Model Letters? These page-long letters written by Girls Empowerment Network volunteers aim to inspire, encourage, uplift, and celebrate girls throughout our community. During the last several months, many of us have felt disconnected, distant, or isolated from others. Relatable Role Model Letters provide volunteers and girls a unique way of communicating and feeling connected.
Be sure to check out our Volunteer FAQs (see links below)! This document is full of tips, guidelines, and an example Relatable Role Model Letter.
To register as a Relatable Role Model Letters volunteer, visit: Relatable Role Model Letters (jotform.com)
What should be included in my letters? The letter should be one page in length. Volunteers are asked to write a minimum of 5 different letters. We are currently asking for handwritten letters as this provides a personalized and meaningful touch. We recommend taking 1-2 weeks max to complete your letters. We welcome decorations, colors, markers, and stickers! We suggest using a variety of bright and bold colors. Letter recipients are girls in grades 3-8 and grades 6-12 (roughly 8-13 years old and 11-18 years old). You will be able to choose which age demographic you'd like to write letters to. Ensure your writing is legible and use language that is accessible to young folks. Use inclusive language in your letters (see our inclusive language section in our FAQs!) Steer away from language about physical attributes. Feel free to share your first name, age, city, and/or profession. Do not include any other identifying/personal information. When you have completed your 5+ letters, you will mail them to: PO BOX 3122, Austin, Texas, 78764 (ATTN: Relatable Role Model Letters). The sooner you can send us the letters, the sooner girls will be able to receive them!
What are some creative elements that you could you include in your letter? Share your favorite inspiring quote. Write about your role model/shero and why they inspire you. Share a joke or riddle. Offer words of affirmation or mantras. Share a memory from middle or high school when you were brave, kind, or used your voice to advocate for yourself or others. Write an acrostic poem using words like girl, power, bravery, strength, etc. Create fun doodles that can be colored in and decorated. Write about how you utilize the Six Cs in your life: How are you creative? What are your favorite coping skills? What makes you feel confident? Who do you enjoy collaborating with? What makes you feel like a courageous communicator? How do you exercise your critical thinking skills?
And be sure to share your letter on social media using #GirlSpark!

Volunteer: Mask Up, Meals on Wheels!Interfaith Ministries' Meals on Wheels Program needs your help to provide a cloth, reusable mask to each of our Meals on Wheels seniors. A standard, adult-sized mask, with soft ear loops, is recommended. We will need to have them in small bags, to ease distribution. If you prefer to bring them to us, ready to be sent out, please include bagging them, individually, in a bag that lays flat during transport (a sandwich sized baggie – either paper or plastic – should be perfect. Target sells some paper ones that are biodegradable). Feel free to get creative with cute designs, so long as we steer clear of any religious or political messaging. We serve a broad audience, so we recommend keeping it to inclusive and happy things. If you’re unsure, solid colors or striped/paisley/gingham patters are always a safe bet. The Details: Purchase festive, colorful, or themed fabric and make as many adult-sized masks as you like. Note: We serve people of all faiths, including those of no particular faith, as well as folks from all cultural backgrounds and political affiliations. Please avoid religious or political patterns, wording, and designs. Here's is some helpful information from the CDC regarding homemade masks: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/prevent-getting-sick/how-to-make-cloth-face-covering.html Place completed cloth, reusable masks into a sandwich-sized, sealed bag. This will minimize the number of hands that come into direct contact with the face mask between donation and distribution to our seniors. We will still advise that they wash them before wearing.OR Purchase adult-sized cloth, reusable masks online or at the store. Most major retailers have some for sale these days. If the masks came several to a package, please bag individually, to help us with distribution.Email Lauren at llewis@imgh.org with any questions or to arrange drop-off of your donation. We encourage you to get your networks involved and work together to create or gather these needed items! Social distancing doesn't mean we can't work together! Donna Martin The Holiday Project Give JOY ~ Get JOY theholidayprojecthouston@yahoo.com 832-515-3862 cell Card Guidelines: In order to encourage creativity, very few guidelines are imposed on the making of Holiday Project handmade greeting cards. The cards may be almost any size, and the media used can be as simple as colored markers available at almost any grocery or drug store. Some people use combinations of media such as markers, rubber stamps, images cut from used or surplus store-bought greeting cards, cut-out computer-generated images, pasted bits of ribbon or felt, etc. Here are a few general suggestions on other matters: •Ideally the cards should be able to stand up if placed on a table, nightstand, etc. •Please don't use glitter-on-glue. The glitter tends to get all over everything. However, pre-mixed "Glitter Glue" (such as is made by Crayola) is fine. •Sentiments that imply that the recipients' circumstances are less than ideal (e.g., "Cheer Up!", "You are not forgotten", etc.) should be avoided. •Greetings should be generic so that they can be appropriate to almost anyone. (For example, a Christmas card that says "Merry Christmas" on the front and "Wishing you all the joy of the season" or other similar sayings that are creative and/or festive inside would be fine. •Please don't enclose or attach candy to the cards. (If you want to send candy or holiday treats to the residents they must be in sealed store packaging. The Activity Director can give treats to the residents). •It's preferable that the cards not be in envelopes. (Some of the recipients suffer from advanced arthritis or other conditions that make the simple act of removing a card from an envelope quite difficult.) •Cards should be signed by the persons making them.Any signature should probably include just the signer's first name or first names of group... Please Please Please do not put anything about the state of a residents health ...such as I hope you get well soon or hope your health improves...the residents aren’t all sick that live in long term care and for the short term rehab patients in skilled nursing facilities. Volunteer: Giving Back during the PandemicOpen Gate has remained open during this pandemic, but we’ve had to change how we are serving our homeless youth. We are unable to serve sit down meals as we used to, but we continue to serve nutritious meals on Sundays from 11:30 AM to 2:00 PM on a carry out/to-go basis. During the height of the lockdown when many of our youth were locked into shelters, we continued to serve about 25 meals each Sunday to the truly homeless. We are now averaging about 45 to-go meals served each of the last three or four Sundays. We are observing social distancing by limiting the number of youth allowed inside at a time, scanning them for fever with a non-contact thermometer prior to entry, and providing fresh socks and underwear in addition to the meal. No one is allowed to remain inside. While the clothing closet is not officially open, we do provide shirts and trousers where desperately needed. We also offer masks, hand sanitizer in small bottles, hygiene packs, and plenty of cold water bottles to help beat the heat. We are offering these services to the youth with a minimum number of volunteers (4 to 5 max) to maximize social distancing protection for the volunteers and the participants. While we realize that many volunteers are being socially responsible and staying home, if you’d like to volunteer, we’d love to see you on a Sunday. We also occasionally have opportunities to volunteer on a Saturday or during the week when only volunteers would be present.

Data quality is an often overlooked success factor in prospecting. Sales departments lose hundreds of hours and monetary value per sales rep from using bad prospect data. Most companies know that their data is a problem, but few realize the high costs involved with ignoring it Scholarships of up to $1,000 will be provided per student dependent upon the completed contribution and milestones SOLUTION We are building an AI-powered CRM that integrates with open source VOIP system. Twilio or Asterik can be used for API integration for VOIP part of application. Machine Learning will also be integrated to "teach" the system how to follow up with a company's customers or end-users. CSR= Customer Service Rep 1. Call comes in and CSR answers 2. Call is recorded and transcribed using an AI tool like JOG.AI (the whole conversation will be transcribed in company’s CRM) 3. AI determines important areas of customer calls based on Keywords that the Customer says like "Sign Up" or "I am frustrated" or "I would like to cancel my service" 4. Based on the keywords stated by Customer, the company’s platform will generate a suggested plan of action along with a template to respond via Email or SMS Examples include: If (customer says "Sign Up") then (AI will suggest emailing "Sign Up" form template) --this will ensure management that the appropriate customers looking to Sign Up for a service receive the appropriate follow up and should increase overall sales and reduce lost leads If (customer says "I would like to cancel my service" or "I want a refund" or "I’m really unhappy/not happy with the service I received") then (AI will suggest emailing or sending an SMS for a free month of service to try to keep customer) Company CRM platform will automatically add the Customer’s name and voice transcription into a Record. The Record will also contain all logs of emails and texts with the Customer in chronological order so any CSR and Manager can see the entire lifecycle of Customer communication end-to-end. A little about us: CDH Stars and Angels is a nonprofit patient advocacy organization based in Houston, Texas that offers a range of support services nationwide to families of children born with the severe birth defect Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia (CDH). CDH is a condition that develops in utero when the muscle dividing the chest from the abdomen, the diaphragm, fails to close. The results of this failure, while sometimes treatable, can be fatal.
We provide small grants to the families experiencing CDH to pay for medical treatments and related travel, and, when needed, funeral expenses. We also provide care packages to CDH-affected families, raise awareness of this defect, and advocate for patient-centered research in partnership with organizations whose goals align with ours.
