The Grants Management Specialist (GeMS) is responsible for managing grants administration operations. It is the responsibility of the GeMS to: manage grantee contract requirements and performance; draft grant and other contracts; maintain grant records; monitor and report on grant strategy budgets; and ensure compliance with organizational and IRS rules and regulations. The GeMS serves as an employee‐at‐will of The Trust.

 

This is an unpaid volunteer position.

Essential Tasks:

Supervise the small grants program and ensure that it is implemented as per program objectives and design. Supervise the entire grant-making process; including review of proposals, the selection process, review of grantee financial documents and program reports and closeout of small grants. Develop and/or modify small grants manuals. Ensure that Counterpart and donor rules and regulations vis-à-vis grants management are properly followed.

Skills:

What should be included in my letters?

Conversation Club will be a gathering of adult refugees and asylees who are intermediate-level English students seeking to improve their spoken English ability.   Duties/Responsibilities:

Volunteers will lead a group of about 5 students in an online Zoom discussion of various conversation topics. Topics and questions will be provided – the volunteer will only need to facilitate the conversation and give the students space to practice speaking. 

Requirements:

We ask that volunteers be 18 years or older and have basic English proficiency and comprehension skills. Volunteers will need to have a strong desire to improve the English language skills of students along with have a sensitivity to cultural difference. Having great patience, understanding, flexibility, and a positive attitude is key!

* Previous volunteering and teaching background would be extremely beneficial*

Club Sessions:

The club will take place 1-2 times a week for 10 weeks with each meeting lasting 1 hour. We will begin in July. The dates and times of the meetings will be determined after we put together a group of volunteers.

Outcomes:

The goal of this club is to promote educational and vocational advance among refugee adult students. Having these conversations will have a direct impact on supporting positive social skills and improving English fluency.

Required: Eight or more years of experience in direct institutional (philanthropic, institutional foundations, corporate foundations) or individual fundraising, to include two years of supervisory or managerial experience. 

Preferred: Prior experience in corporate or foundation fundraising for social good, human services, workforce development, or other fields, such as community, academic and/or related organizations.

Our Mobile Outreach team members distribute snack packs as they meet individuals who are experiencing homelessness. Our case managers also distribute them. Easy-open protein items provide a great food source for our clients. Volunteers consult the list below and choose six or more of the items to package in Ziploc bags.  Clients often find it most helpful when snack packs contain a mix of no-chew (e.g. applesauce, pudding) and chewy items to accommodate all levels of dental health.  You are free to place an encouraging note in each pack!  Please don’t include last names, contact information, seasonal references, dates, or religious references.

The volunteer that selects this position will meet with a Bloom staff member to pick up USB drives. Then, with access to our videos (stored on Vimeo), you will upload them to the correct USB drives. There are approximately 60 USB drives. 

 

While the work sounds inconsequential, it is of utmost importance to approximately 500 athletes across Greater Houston who are looking forward to using their new Bloom Box drives.

So what are Affirmation Bookmarks? These bookmarks written by Girls Empowerment Network volunteers aim to inspire, encourage, and uplift girls throughout our community. Affirmation Bookmarks provide volunteers with a unique way of supporting and celebrating girls.

Position Overview:
We are seeking a Social Media Manager to help us grow and engage our online community, spread awareness of our mission, and drive support for our programs and events. The ideal volunteer will be a creative and strategic thinker with a deep understanding of social media platforms, trends, and best practices. You’ll have the opportunity to use your skills to create content that highlights the voices of single parents and promotes the impact of our work.

Key Responsibilities:

Develop and implement a social media strategy to increase brand awareness and engagement across platforms (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, etc.). Create, schedule, and curate engaging content including posts, graphics, and videos. Monitor and respond to comments, messages, and interactions on social media channels. Track social media analytics and adjust strategies based on performance. Collaborate with the team to promote events, campaigns, and success stories. Stay up-to-date with the latest social media trends and recommend new ideas to boost engagement. Help manage the organization’s online presence and reputation.

Qualifications:

Proven experience in social media management or digital marketing. Strong understanding of social media platforms, algorithms, and analytics tools. Excellent writing and communication skills. Creative mindset with experience in creating engaging and visually appealing content. Ability to work independently, manage deadlines, and prioritize tasks. Passion for the mission of The Single Parent That Could and a desire to make an impact in the lives of single parents. Experience with graphic design tools (Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, etc.) is a plus.

Time Commitment:

Flexible hours with a commitment of 5-10 hours per week. Remote work is available.
