We are working on an art project that will center maternal mental health and are looking for a student who is looking to expand their artistry and complete a mural project.

We are also looking for someone who is interesting in expanding their Interior Design skills to help us design our current space.

We are requiring:

Adopt A Cat is a non-profit, no-kill cat shelter that cares for the abandoned and relinquished cats of the Greater Houston Area.

Our mission is to rescue, rehabilitate, and foster homeless felines until safe, caring, and permanent homes are found for them.

We are a grassroots organization whose success and growth is a result of caring individuals working together in their communities to rescue cats.

We need volunteers who can help with the day-to-day direct care of the cats and the shelter, including things such as:

Anyone interested must be comfortable being around and handling cats, as many of our cats are outside of cages and are allowed to freely roam the shelter.

At Adopt A Cat, we know that it takes more than just a roof over a cats head to consider them saved and ready for a new home.

Many of our cats were previously strays, or have just left their homes for an extended period of time for what is likely the first time in their lives.

We want all of our residents to receive love, comfort, and specialized time that works with their comfort level. Whether that means lap time with lots of pets, playing with wand toys from a distance, or even just staying safely inside of their cage while listening to someone talk about their day, every cat can start or continue the socialization process somewhere.

We are looking for volunteers who are comfortable with being around and handling cats who can come in to the shelter and spend time with all of our kitties to help them flourish into the happy and healthy cats we know that they can be. This will also help them to get ready for adoption and entering their new homes.

(We'll absolutely understand if there is some bribing with treats and catnip that occurs during the process.)

One of the most important aspects of the shelter is building up and maintaining the health of our cats, and that is accomplished in part by visits to the vet.

Unfortunately, our shelter vehicle has been of service to us for many, many years now and the toll of that is starting to show itself.

Between the state of our car, the general (and sometimes unexpectedly intense) busyness that comes from the average day, and understaffing, we are relying largely on volunteers to help us get the cats to and from their vet appointments in a timely manner.

Outside of assisting in our cats overcoming existing and/or sudden health issues, you will also be helping them get ready to go to their new forever homes, as every cat that we adopt out is spayed/neutered, vaccinated, combo tested, flea treated, dewormed, and receives any other essential medical care that is necessary to get them on the path to recovery.

The ideal volunteer for this position:

Social Services Assistant – Assists Hope Center guests in obtaining services provided by the Social Security Administration. This may include establishing an online account at SSA.gov, setting an appointment to obtain a replacement Social Security card, applying for Social Security retirement benefits, applying for Medicare, applying for disability benefits, and, if necessary, arranging for transportation to the Social Security office.

Greet homeless guests, gather essential details, check eligibility for services, and answer phones. Shift: 8:45 am to 12:00 pm

Answer phones and take messages.
Shift: 8:45 am to 1:00 pm

Monitor the eating area and visit with homeless guests. Assist guests in getting to their predetermined service on time.Shift: 8:45 am to 1:00 pm

Determine guest’s eligibility for assistance. Input guest’s information into the HMIS system. (Requires extra training and HMIS certification).
Shift: 8:45 am to 1:00 pm or later

Breakfast & lunch preparation and service. Kitchen organization and cleaning. (Requires a food server license available on the internet.)Shift: 7:00 am to 1:00 pm

Assist the volunteer dentist. Requires current Dental Hygiene license.Shift: 2 Fridays/month 9:00 am to 1:00 pm

Help the Down Syndrome Association of Houston as we unite to raise awareness and celebrate alongside our members, friends and families. Help set up the course, welcome and cheer on teams and also prepare games, vendors, refreshments and a variety of activities for individuals with Down syndrome, their families and their community supporters.

Cypress Assistance Ministries (CAM) is opening a second resale and donation location. Our new location is in the Willowbrook area, and it needs some cashiers. Cashiers will be responsible for ringing up customers and accepting cash and card payments. They will also have responsiblities including keeping the store tidy, organizing merchandise and displays, and assisting customers throughout their shopping experience. No previous retail experience is necessary, just a good attitude!

All sales at this store will benefit Cypress Assistance Ministries. CAM is a 501c3 non-profit that benefits the Cy-Fair community. We provide rental and utility assistance, maintain a food pantry, provide job hunting resources, as well as other community services.

Cypress Assistance Ministries is opening a second location for our resale store and donation centers. We need volunteers to help us in our new donation center.

Our donation center is broken up into different departments; once you complete an orientation, you will be able to choose which department you would prefer to volunteer in. Departments include: donation intake, clothing, housewares, toys, accessories, electronics, and baby items. Duties vary by department, but include things like cleaning, organizing, sorting, pricing and displaying items in the store. We will provide training to all volunteers.

The donation center is open from 9 am - 3 pm, Monday through Saturday. Most volunteers start off working 3-4 hours, once per week.

All sales in the resale store will benefit Cypress Assistance Ministries. CAM is a 501c3 non-profit which provides assistance to the Cy-Fair community. We are currently looking for individuals over the age of 18 who are willing to assist the Canine Program at George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) by volunteering to act as a decoy. Your role will be to carry a training aid through any area where Passenger Screening Canine is being conducted. The TSA canines are classified as passive response canines, meaning their actions are passively controlled and non-aggressive.

You will need to wear loose fitting clothing and bring a small carry-on type piece of luggage. For example, roller bag, backpack, laptop bag, etc. You can also actually be traveling the day of your assignment. Just give us at least 48 hours advance notice so we can add you on the schedule.

You must not have allergies to the following items; dogs, cotton, wool, latex, or adhesive strips as these items may be used as a part of the exercise. Hospice volunteers provide a variety of direct and indirect services to patients and their families. Visits to provide companionship, caregiver relief, errands, music therapy, pet therapy, and other services are examples of direct services. Phone calls, pen-pals, and special projects like blanket crafting are examples of indirect services. Volunteers can also get involved with administrative support by assisting in the office. Participate in events at assisted living such as bingo or karaoke. Attend fairs to recruit volunteers at campuses. Hand out flyers to the community to recruit volunteers.

What hospice volunteer does is determined by their abilities and interests.

AccentCare Hospice is piloting a Virtual Reality Experience Program for hospice patients. Virtual Reality Experience Volunteers will be trained to work alongside the Hospice Social Worker to bring provided virtual reality equipment into the patient's home and engage them with experiences they would never have access to normally. Virtual Reality Experiences include touring cities around the world, joining deep sea divers, exploring nature preserves and more! 

If you have a few hours to spare on a Tuesday or a Wednesday morning, come join the Cy-Fair Helping Hands Homeless Day Center Team as a shuttle (van) driver. Your provision of transportation will help our homeless neighbors enjoy a meal, a shower, and some much needed fellowship.  This is roughly a 4-hour commitment, picking up individuals and delivering them to the Day Center, then returning them to their original location after activities.  Drivers are encouraged to join the activities at the Homeless Day Center which includes daily devotionals and lunch at 11:00.  Reports to the Director of Homeless Outreach.

Must be at least 18.  Driver's License and good driving record required.  Long term considerations only, please.

We are looking for volunteers to pick up food donations from neighborhood grocery stores weekly on a designated Monday or Thursday and deliver the food to our Community Food Pantry between 9:00 am - 9:30 am.  All pick up locations are within the CFISD area.  As a volunteer Food Donation Driver, you will be helping Cy-Fair Helping Hands accomplish their mission of bringing hope to the homeless and hungry by ensuring our Community Food Pantry is stocked with nutritional food to provide to seniors and low-income families.  Subs are also needed for occasional grocery and Red Barrel donation pick-ups.

A large vehicle (e.g., pick-up truck, van or SUV), Driver's License and Car Insurance are required.  Must be able to lift heavy boxes of meat and produce and load them into your vehicle.

Volunteers are needed to register new and returning clients, validate eligibility, inform clients of upcoming events and run reports. As an Application Advisor, you play a crucial role in helping our students submit outstanding job applications. Using the Application Feedback Form and the guidelines provided, you will review, proofread, and offer detailed suggestions to ensure each application meets the highest standards of professionalism. Volunteers will receive 1-3 applications per session to review, helping clients craft "pristine" applications that set them up for success in their job search.

This volunteer opportunity occurs three times a month, aligning with each JSA class cycle, and is conducted entirely electronically. Applications are sent out on Wednesdays, and reviewed submissions must be emailed back by 8:00 AM the following Wednesday. This one-week turnaround is vital as student training programs operate on a tight schedule. By contributing your time and expertise, you’ll directly impact the confidence and success of our clients as they take their next steps toward meaningful employment.

Our mentoring program is designed to support the growth of our students on the fields, in school, and in life. Mentors are matched with a SpringSpirit participant in grades 3-12 and commit to meet in person at least once a month.  Mentors must submit to a background check and go through an orientation process before being matched with a mentee.  2 locations in Northern Spring Branch.  

Help a child who is reading below grade level. Volunteers needed to work with elementary-age children in northern Spring Branch once or twice a week. Work with small groups (2-4 students) for an hour once a week.  Simple lesson and materials provided for you.

Volunteers would need to commit to only once-a-week visits with their group of children for at least one semester. One hour training provided before you start as well as a background check. Program has proven results in improving student reading levels.  

Available times are (choose one day):

We need your help to keep great books accessible to communities 24/7. Visit Little Free Libraries in your community to distribute books! 

We can suggest where to look for free or inexpensive books, or if you already have some, you can share those too. You can find book-sharing boxes near you using our world map or free mobile app.

About Us
Thank you for your interest in volunteering with us at Project C.U.R.E. Houston. Project C.U.R.E. is the largest provider of donated medical supplies and equipment to developing countries around the world. We would be delighted to have you join us and share in our mission.

WHAT do volunteers do?

Our volunteers help with all aspects of our life-saving operation. Volunteers sort donated medical supplies, prepare shipments, help manage our warehouse, and even work with our hospital partners to procure supplies. We also have volunteers who drive out to make scheduled donation pick-ups, test and repair medical equipment at all levels of expertise, help with fundraising and outreach, plan events, and assist with administrative needs.

We do not require any experience or medical background and will teach you everything you need to know.  With that said, we do love nurses and medical professionals! Engineers are also extremely valuable to us.  

HOW do I register?

New volunteers must create a profile online prior to volunteering.  

You can then log in using your user id/password to sign up for future individual volunteer sessions.

*Volunteers under 18 will be prompted to print a release form for their parent/guardian to sign. They must bring the signed form when they come to the warehouse.  This release expires at the end of each calendar year so an updated release may be needed.

Cypress Assistance Ministries (CAM) needs cashiers for our resale store, Angels' Attic. Cashiers will be responsible for ringing up customers and accepting cash and card payments. They will also have responsiblities including keeping the store tidy, organizing merchandise and displays, and assisting customers throughout their shopping experience. No previous retail experience is necessary, just a good attitude!

All sales at this store will benefit Cypress Assistance Ministries. CAM is a 501c3 non-profit that benefits the Cy-Fair community. We provide rental and utility assistance, maintain a food pantry, provide job hunting resources, as well as other community services.

Cypress Assistance Ministries(CAM) needs volunteers to help in our donation center.

Our donation center is broken up into different departments; once you complete an orientation, you will be able to choose which department you would prefer to volunteer in. Cypress Assistance Ministries (CAM) is partnering with some area grocery stores to help provide food for our food pantry. We just need some helpful individuals to pick up the donations from these retailers and help deliver them to CAM's facility.

Programs like this are wonderful resources for CAM, as they help us source items that would be otherwise difficult to source (such as bakery items and produce), and they help reduce food waste in our community.

Volunteers must have access to a vehicle suitable for transporting food items (an SUV or minivan would work perfectly, a sedan with sufficient trunk space would work as well). We will provide insulated bags.

We need weekly drivers for Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. You may choose to volunteer for one, two, or all three of these pick-ups.

At Beauty's Community Garden volunteers are at the heart of what we do. It takes each and every hand to successfully care for the plants through the seasons. We do not rent out our plots, we instead open the garden to volunteers, on Saturdays 8am-10am (May to mid October), and 9am-11am (mid October to April. Each Saturday, garden volunteers receive a guided tending-the-garden experience by Ashley Hadley, our Garden Coordinator and Volunteer Instructor. Do you love talking with people and have great communication/listening skills? We have the perfect volunteer position for you!

The Greeter will welcome people to the shelter, ask them what they need, and then provide basic details about adopting (including our adoption process), fostering, volunteering, or donating (depending on what the visitors has stopped in for). Greeters will be equipped to cover the most basic, high-level version of this information so they can get visitors to the right place efficiently.

Ever wonder where those Red Barrel donations go – they go to your local food pantry!

Volunteers are needed to pick up Red Barrel food donations from two nearby grocery stores in the Cypress area and deliver donations to the Cy-Fair Helping Hands Community Food Pantry at 9204 Emmott Road on a Monday or Thursday morning between the hours of 9:00 am – 12:30 pm. Volunteers must be over 18, have a large vehicle (e.g., pick-up truck, van or SUV) and car insurance. This is a relatively flexible position that doesn’t require a lot of time commitment yet contributes significantly to our mission to bring hope to the homeless and hungry!

Hospice volunteers provide a variety of direct and indirect services to patients and their families. Visits to provide companionship, caregiver relief, errands, music therapy, pet therapy, and other services are examples of direct services. Phone calls, pen-pals, and special projects like blanket crafting are examples of indirect services. Volunteers can also get involved with administrative support by assisting in the office. Do you love technology and enjoy helping others gain confidence with digital tools? Are you fluent in English and Spanish and comfortable offering live translation or tech support?

We’re seeking bilingual volunteers to assist with our 10-week Microsoft Word course for adult learners. Volunteers may help participants navigate computers, understand key Word functions, and encourage learners as they build valuable digital literacy skills. No teaching experience required—just patience, kindness, and a love for sharing knowledge!

Allies walk alongside people participating in Faith & Finances, joining them on their journey. Allies work with each participant, providing encouragement, advocacy, and supportive friendship. Along the way, Allies learn just as much—or more—from participants as they come together to discover God’s design for their money.

Time Commitment 

Volunteers are requested to commit to teaching for the length of the semester. It can be multiple classes on Tuesday and Thursday or one class, one day a week.

Our ESL program follows the academic year schedule, August through May, with breaks for holidays and in between semesters. 

We believe this time commitment is necessary to foster relationships based on trust, respect, and the love of Christ, and will allow the volunteer to see the direct benefit of their role as a mentor/tutor.
