Description

Join PIF's Farmer Elizabeth and Chef Connie Lacobie for an introduction to traditional herbal medicine, and tips for how to grow your medicine garden in Houston.

Connie was the innovative chef behind a creative and extensive menu for a local cafe. She specializes in quick bites, international tea, and healthy vegan and vegetarian dishes. Connie incorporates nutritionally dense and medicinally beneficial ingredients into everything she prepares. She recently completed a course over Herbal Medicine and is ready to pass on the knowledge acquired to the Houston Community.

Elizabeth Nyuma is from Lofa Kante, Liberia. Here, she learned how to provide fresh food for, not only herself, but her whole family. Elizabeth prides herself in the fact that she is self sufficient and does not need to rely on anyone else for food security. She runs a farm in the Mahatma Gandhi District which continuously provides fresh and healthy produce for the Houston community. Elizabeth learned traditional Liberian herbal medicine from her family, and has passed that knowledge on to her own children. She is excited to share her skills with you!

Both speakers are excited to share their tips on how to heal through medicinal herbs such as African mint, dandelion, and bitter melon.  Bring your notebooks, questions, and empty stomachs – this will be a practical, information filled hour that will give you the confidence to grow with nature.
