March for Marrow raises funds for the Patient & Family Services provided by the Aplastic Anemia & MDS International Foundation. This includes a contribution to research as well as patient resource staff, printed information, online webinars and patient and family conferences. We are a patient-focused, patient-centered organization, serving patients and families throughout the three phases of bone marrow failure diseases:
- the life-changing phase of diagnosis
- the life-threatening phase of treatment
- the lifelong phase of living with a chronic disease
The AAMDS International Foundation, Inc. serves over 4,000 patients in Texas annually; over 50 cases of bone marrow failure disease are diagnosed each day in the United States.
The goals for March for Marrow continue to be:
- Educate the public about rare bone marrow failure diseases.
- Create a support community for patients and families.
- Raise funds for AAMDSIF’s patient services and for research.
- Recruit marrow donors through Be the Match.
- Increase awareness of the premier medical resources in the Houston and Central Texas area.
The 2022 March for Marrow TX, The Woodlands, will include our 5K Run and one-mile Patient & Family Walk. The purpose of the 5K Run is to attract more healthy, young people to the National Marrow Donor Registry, educate a new public, celebrate our Texas survivors and remember those we have lost.
