Description

The Woods Project runs weekend trips at different sites near Houston. Our trips include everything from backpacking to canoeing and kayaking to pulling invasive species or planting trees for service projects. We combine students from different high schools who come out with their teachers to enjoy the woods, meet new people and develop strong leadership skills and confidence.

We depend 100% on our volunteers to come out with us and have a great time along with the students. Our volunteers come from all walks of life and range in age from 22 to 78 years old. All that we ask of volunteers is that they are willing to come out, enjoy the outdoors and share their stories with our students.

Have you been curious about volunteering for a weekend trip, but not quite sure what to expect? Then please join us as we kick off a new semester with a Spring Volunteer Leader Orientation!

Topics will include:

  • Weekend trip schedule & activities
  • Gear information
  • Student and leader expectations
  • Hierachy of roles and responsibilities
  • Q&A session

We look forward to seeing you at the Orientation and answering any questions you may have about volunteering with The Woods Project. This will also be a great opportunity to meet some of our current and new volunteers. We will provide light snacks and beverages. In order to volunteer on weekend trips, you must complete our Volunteer Application online, if you haven't done so already.
