Description

The poverty simulation experience is designed to help participants begin to understand what it might be like to live in a typical low-income family trying to survive from month to month.  It is a simulation, not a game.  The object is to sensitize participants to the realities faced by low-income people.

 

Volunteer duties:

Person recruited as a volunteer staffer is asked to serve as "employees" at the various businesses and social services agencies that will be stationed around the perimeter of the room.  Some of the roles include the following:

  • Banker
  • Supermarket Customer Service Clerk
  • TANF Receptionist and Caseworkers
  • Teacher
  • Payday Loan Clerk

 

Water  and snacks will be provided for the volunteers
