On Saturday, March 26th, at 9 a.m., Lettuce Live will break ground at 8414 Safeguard. Lettuce Live is located in Southeast Houston’s District D, an area where families have limited access to fresh fruits and vegetables; this is better known as food desert.
In an effort to prepare for our new urban farm we've chopped down several trees that will be turned into mulch, sitting stumps and stepping stones. We need volunteers to help with separating the tree stumps from the branches.
Lettuce Live is an urban farm project designed to educate students, refugees and veterans about eating to thrive and navigating the food systems where they live while providing the community with a safe place for children to learn after school in our outdoor classroom as well as a place where cultural exchange happens and a green space for neighbors to meet.
