Who We Are

Wellsprings Village is a work-focused transitional housing program providing transitional housing, food, and supportive services to help homeless women heal from the pain of their past and learn new life skills to enable them to re-gain their self-sufficiency.  The supportive services available to the residents address the core issues that contributed to their homelessness such as education, job readiness, life-skills training, time and financial management, and personal growth and development. Upon entering Wellsprings Village, Client Advocate staff is assiged and evaluates each woman and assists her in developing an individualized Needs Assessment/Service Plan. The Client Advocate provides intensive case management services which outlines the necessary services that will focus on identified needs (i.e. relapse prevention and education, sober living, decision making, conflict resolution, anger management, parenting, domestic violence awareness, and mental health awareness). Time frames will be established for the resident to complete specific activities and report back to the Client Advocate during follow-up monitoring meetings.

The residents are referred to health service providers as needed for mental health screenings and/or treatment and general medical care.  Residents that require individual counseling are referred to community based resources and to counselors that Wellsprings has negotiated contracts with.  Peer group meetings are held as a forum to voice issues they may be experiencing while they are in the program. Continuing education is encouraged and employment assistance, bus passes, and van transportation are available.

What We Do

Wellsprings Village, Inc is a safe, nurturing transitional housing program for homeless women and women recovering from domestic violence, or in recovery from substance abuse. Skills taught at Wellsprings Village enable homeless women to heal and garner new coping mechanisms that will enable them to break the cycles of poverty, abuse, homelessness and unemployment. Through proven programming and other life affirming activities, our residents graduate from the program prepared to face the challenges that society presents on a daily basis. The women that graduate from Wellsprings Village leave empowered and strong, having successfully demonstrated viable job skills; secured full-time employment, and learned to apply crucial life-skills in critical circumstances as deemed necessary.

In southwest Houston, Wellsprings Village continues to transform the shattered lives of homeless women, ages 25 to 50, without children in their care by providing them with safe, stable transitional housing, and linking them with the resources that are needed to move them towards becoming self-sustaining. Supportive services include limited food and clothing, on campus educational classes and employment readiness class. The physical address is undisclosed to shield the women from the dangers of their pasts. Beyond the secure gates, they are welcomed into a peaceful three-acre village consisting of eight residential homes encircling a retaining pond where resident ducks often linger. Inside each home, eight women become a support system to each other led by a client advocate who supports, encourages, directs, corrects and challenges the women to make behavioral changes to break the generational cycle of addiction, abuse and poverty.
