Avenue started in 1991 with a group of residents who wanted to preserve affordability and character in a rapidly changing neighborhood. Since then, Avenue has grown and continued that goal by building affordable homes for purchase and rent, providing homebuyer education to help families build long-term assets, and supporting robust community engagement programs to improve the quality of life.

At Avenue, we understand the importance of affordable homes, whether that means renting or buying, in neighborhoods that are safe, strong and connected. Avenue is one of the oldest non-profit organizations in Houston, Texas dedicated to supporting people through attainable housing. We have invested more than $170 million in our communities, which includes building more than 240 single-family homes, 1,000 rental units, and over 200,000 square feet of commercial space. We are committed to not just revitalizing neighborhoods but also improving people’s lives.
