Who We Are

The Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston serves more than 1.7 million Catholics in 146 parishes across 10 counties, a geographic area of 8,800 square miles. The Archdiocese comprises the counties of Austin, Brazoria, Fort Bend, Galveston, Grimes, Harris, Montgomery, San Jacinto, Walker, and Waller in Texas. The Archdiocese is divided into four vicariates and 13 deaneries. This local church is pastored by His Eminence Cardinal Daniel Cardinal DiNardo, assisted by Auxiliary Bishop, the Most Reverend Italo Dell'Oro, C.R.S.

What We Do

The Archdiocese of Galveston - Houston supports more than 60 ministries. These ministries include lifelong faith formation through education, evangelization, and worship. Other ministries include ministering to the sick, incarcerated, and indigent. The Archdiocese supports clergy from discernment to retirement. The Archdiocese includes ministries that strengthen families as seen through the Aging ministry, Retreat Centers, and Respect Life ministry. The Archdiocese supports 35 catholic schools, some of which offer affordable Catholic education to historically underserved communities. The Archdiocese supports 146 parishes of which parishioners attend for sacraments, community, and spiritual formation.
