Progressive Fifth Ward Community Association

In wanting to continue moving forward with improving our Fifth Ward neighborhood, we are a civic group compromised of Fifth Ward citizens who have opted to mobilize and form an organization with a progressive agenda that builds on action based activity to make positive change in the community.

-We promote civic engagement by encouraging coordination between residents and local municipal agencies. -We encourage improvements in the appearance of public and private properties in the area. -We promote wholesome, social, cultural and recreational activities in the area. -We take concerted actions in matters pertaining to the welfare of area residents. -We established Hershe Community Garden, a demonstration, organic garden that teaches residents how to grow their own their food. Hershe Community Garden also donates food to local food pantries in the Fifth Ward area, a neighborhood that exists within a food desert.
