needs from: Volunteer Houston

Volunteer: Fall ESL tutors needed - we will train you!

If you are fluent in English, and have the compassion and willingness to volunteer as an adult literacy tutor, you have what it takes to inspire others to transform their lives and the community.

Bay Area adults are motivated to improve their English by all sorts of issues - they want to do their jobs better, help their kids with school, feel more comfortable in the community, or work to become American citizens. They come from the U.S. and many other countries. Fall classes are forming now, and many students have been waiting for months for a volunteer to help them speak, understand, or read and write better in English. Will it be you?!

You do NOT need teaching experience or to know another language to inspire and help them! We will train you, provide materials and resources, and give you on-site support for free!

O

ur single-student Basic Education and small-group English Language classes meet for either two hours, twice a week, or three hours, once a week at the Bay Area United Way Center. Classes are scheduled Monday - Thursday, during the day or in the evening, at your convenience.

Please contact us today to schedule a tour and find out more.

Volunteers must be at least 18 years old.

Volunteer: As Needed Hospice Volunteers

There are times when our amazing volunteers have personal things come up in their life. If they are scheduled to see a patient, and cannot make their visit-that is where you come in! If you are looking to give back, but cannot commit to a regular scheduled meeting every week, we are always looking for "on call" volunteers to fill in the gaps if our regular scheduled volunteers cannot make a visit. Most of our volunteers help with things such as end of life projects, socialization, and just being a friend to our patients. When you are asked to fill in for an absent volunteer you will get any and all information on what a patient likes to do so you are well prepared to go visit them. If you are interested in becoming a regular volunteer with us, please look at our other opportunities!
