Mentoring is one hour a week


The Parks Youth Ranch Mentoring Program empowers at-risk youth to make positive life choices and maximize their potential. Become a mentor, and help serve as a positive role model in the life of a child. Age 21 and up welcome! Mentor Role

• Take the lead in supporting a young person through an ongoing, one-to-one relationship

• Serve as a positive role model and friend

• Build the relationship by planning and participating in activities together

• Build self-esteem and motivation•Help set goals and work toward accomplishing them

Time Commitment

• Make a 3-12 month commitment (depends on child’s length of stay)•Spend a minimum of eight hours per month one-to-one with mentee•Communicate with mentee weekly

Participation Requirements

• Be at least 21 years old 

• Willingness to travel to Parks Youth Ranch (11614 FM 361 Richmond, TX 77469)

• Dependable and consistent in meeting the time commitments

• Willing to communicate regularly with program staff, submit activity information, and take constructive feedback regarding mentoring activities

•Clean criminal history

• Negative TB test

Application and Screening Process

•Attend two-hour mentor training

•Criminal history check

•Personal interview

•Mentor survey and application
