Needs from: Volunteer Houston

Volunteer: Volunteers needed for Animal Adoptions and Foster Homes

We need dependable volunteers to help with adoption events on Saturdays and Sundays at our Katy and Pearland PetSmarts.

We need foster homes to save more animals at the shelters. To foster, you need to be able to care for the animal and bring him/her to some of the adoption events on the weekends. A foster home means the difference of life or
death for many animals at the overcrowded shelters. You can save a life by providing a foster home.

We have volunteer opportunities for transporting animals to and from adoptions, helping at the stores with adoption applications and talking to potential adopters, walking and showing the dogs and cats and giving them attention, helping set up for adoptions and packing up for transport back to their foster homes.

We need volunteers for these locations every weekend:
PETSMART - Katy I-10/Fry - 19945 Katy Frwy, Houston, TX 77094 ------------ Sat. 9-6, Sun. 11-5 PETSMART - Shoppes at Parkwest - 24600 Katy Fwy, Katy, TX 77493 ---------- Sat. 10:30-4:30, 11-5 PETSMART - Pearland - 3119 Silverlake Village Dr., Pearland, TX 77584 --------- Sat. 10:30-5, Sun. 11-5

You can volunteer for both days or one day, the whole time or 2, 3, 4 or more hours. If you can't stay the entire
time, just let us know when you can come. Even a few hours can make a difference for the animals.

This is a great opportunity to bring a significant other or friends to help.
Volunteers need to be 16 or older to volunteer for adoption events.

We also need volunteers to cover both weekday & weekend morning and evening cat care shifts at PetSmart on I-10 at Fry Rd in Katy. It takes about an hour to feed, scoop litter boxes, straighten up the their cages and give them attention. Times are flexible - mornings around 9 or 10 is the preferred time. Evenings, the preferred time is between 5 and 7. Volunteers need to be 18 or older to volunteer for cat care.

We also need transport volunteers during the week to help with transport for the animals
to and from vet appointments for spay/neuter surgeries and other medical care. Volunteers need to be 18 or older to volunteer for transport.

Volunteer: Puppies & dogs need a ride to weekend adoption events

We need help with transporting puppies and dogs to and from adoption events on weekends and also to & from vet appointments and shelter pick ups through the week.

Larger vehicles - Full to mid-size SUVs and trucks are needed and also smaller 4 door vehicles are needed for weekend adoption events.

Smaller cars are big enough for vet drop off and pick up and shelter pick up during the week.

Weekend adoption events:

They need to be picked up at one location in the Missouri City area and transported to the Katy and Pearland PetSmarts.  They also need to be picked up at the end of the day at each location and transported back to the Missouri City area.

You can volunteer to transport for one location on Saturday and/or Sunday for both ways or one way. You can volunteer for either day this weekend. You don't have to volunteer every weekend.

Volunteers need to be 18 or older.

We will need to know what type of vehicle you have. Larger & mid-size vehicles are needed for weekend adoptions.

The puppies and dogs will be in transport crates. We usually just have puppies and dogs that need transport to adoptions on the weekends.
