VIRTUAL DISASTER VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

INDIVIDUALS Looking for volunteer opportunities?  When disaster strikes, we often see an influx of volunteers looking for ways to help the people and communities affected before they're needed. If you are already associated with a nonprofit or faith organization, we encourage you to reach out to them first. If you are not already associated with an organization - you are a spontaneous volunteer, and you are in the right place! Read more below.

 

  FOR VOLUNTEERS  

 

STEP 1

Log in to (or create) your Volunteer Houston account. 

 

 STEP 2

Complete these  qualification(s) in your VH profile:

  • upload an image of both sides of your ID

  

 STEP 3

Browse disaster volunteer needs by clicking the disaster name in the menu column on the left of the screen.

If you already know the organization with which you want to volunteer, enter the organization name in the search bar to determine if their volunteer needs are posted.

   

 STEP 4

Respond to needs that you are 100% committed to by clicking the blue "RESPOND" button.

  

STEP 5

If you are not able to follow through on your volunteer commitment, log back in to your account and unregister your response by:

  • Clicking the "Need Responses" menu option

  • Selecting "unregister" from the drop down menu of the need

STEP 6

Search for and "fan" the VRC agency listed in the VH Portal.

STEP 7

Download the Volunteer Get Connected mobile app (iOS and Android) by Galaxy Digital to manage your volunteer responses, hours and records.

  • Enter the same email address you used to create your Volunteer Houston account

  • Select "Volunteer Houston" site if prompted
